Botkins High School
#1 Best Public High Schools in Shelby County
- Botkins Local School District, OH
- Rating 4.04 out of 5 47 reviews
Senior: Botkins High School is a great place for teenagers to learn. The environment is not too large and it is very welcoming. I love how everyone knows everyone, it helps to keep everyone in line. One area I would like to see changes in is the guidance department. The guidance department is very helpful and friendly, but I feel we do not have enough counselors. I feel it would help greatly if we had two or more counselors for the students because going into college is a crucial stage in life and planning it out is very important. When the guidance counselor isn't there to help you time after time you visit, it can be frustrating. Therefore, adding another guidance counselor would be very helpful for the students.

Anna High School
#3 Best Public High Schools in Shelby County
- Anna Local School District, OH
- Rating 4 out of 5 64 reviews
Senior: Anna high school has allowed me to gain new perspectives. One thing I wouldn't change about Anna is the college readiness it prepares me with. The teaching staff does a great job of getting kids ready for the real world. One disadvantage is the lack of diversity. Many high school cultures play in affect here. For example, if you play sports, you are popular and if you don't play sports you are not popular. Overall, I love my experience at Anna Local and I will miss my classmates a lot when I move away.

Houston High School
- Hardin-Houston Local School District, OH
- Rating 3.24 out of 5 25 reviews
Senior: My years at Houston High School were ones I will never forget. I am going into my senior year and I have been at Houston since kindergarten. The teachers at Houston are very helpful and always doing what is best for their students. Education is held at a high standard and each student gets the attention and learning they need. There are also many activities that occur at Houston, however, I feel that as kids get older the less activities there are to do at the school. I also wish Houston had a football team because that would earn our school extra money, and bring the community together through games and more. These, however, are minor things and do not change the overall picture of the school. Houston High School has put me on a good path for the future and they are always thinking about what is best for the community and the students which makes it an amazing school for all ages.

Junior: Fairlawn is a very small school with a very tight community. I would’ve loved to see more leadership opportunities and college credit courses offered at our school.

Sidney High School
- Sidney City School District, OH
- Rating 3.51 out of 5 104 reviews
Senior: At Sidney High School I have had two of my most favorite teachers. One was my Geometry Teacher and the other was my Choir Director. They are very supporting and taught me the subject thoroughly along with important life lessons. I have met so many different people and had amazing experiences especially in the choir and cross-country programs. I would not change my experience in these activities and am grateful to have them. The administration, on the other hand, has been changing year after year and I believe it is critical to establish a school within its administration. There has been a great level of inconsistency which is important in a school. The academics could be more challenging and on task in order to get more things accomplished during the school day. Overall, Sidney High School is a neat place and has given me many priceless experiences.
