Senior: Basically you are a college student. You take college courses that suit your career path. These are college courses that give actual college credit. This means when you graduate you get a high school diploma and an Associates degree. Since SPC is a relatively small college, the classes are tinier, making it easier to establish a connection with your professors. There are plenty of clubs around the high school you can join, and much more college clubs when you become a senior. There are classes that suit just about every major, so its okay to reconsider your classes. The high school has these weekly seminars that are all about college readiness. They talk about financial aid, SAT & ACT, and the college application process. The campus has a Nature's Table cafe. Its genuinely the most delicious and healthiest food I've ever had. Junior: Palm Harbor University high school has truly changed my life. As a person whom is very enthusiastic about medicine and anything within that wondrous field of science, I’d signed up for the medical program. Being in the program, I had a large variety of teachers whom had not only valued education but also connecting with students. Everyone here was so kind and are not the stereotypical ‘divided into cliques’ kind of way like they show in the movies. Everyday, I walk down the halls to smiling teachers standing patiently by their doors, greeting me. I’ve started off my high school experience during covid, a time where I’d spent the entirety of the school year online. I thought it’d be difficult to make friends and accustom myself to the layout of the school afterward, but because of how great this school was those worries now appear as funny because, now knowing the school, such things are very easy to fix. Senior: East Lake High School has great teachers and guidance counselors striving to help students with all their goals. The competitive environment among the students helped myself strive to be the best student possible. There is many fun opportunities for seniors. Also, there is a variety of classes so everyone can find something they like (Engineering, Biomed, Robotics, Theater, Business/ Computer classes, and an endless amount of AP and dual enrollment classes.) Senior: Attending St. Petersburg Collegiate High School was one of the greatest opportunities life has presented me with. Not only was I able to receive my high school diploma, but and Associates Degree with two years of college done. The teachers are incredible and always willing to help with any assignments no matter how busy they were. They were kind, caring, and compassionate people. The school is also extremely diverse and ensures that students can display their cultures, especially through the amazing multicultural club which I was a part of. Junior: Although from the outside looking in most people would frown upon Lakewood high school, I say different. As a student at Lakewood High School I am a first hand experiencer of the environment, culture and more. When getting to know the faculty they are always kind no matter what you are going through. If you ever need something, they will be quick to answer any question or guide you throughout your process. I love the way the process from high school to your future is set up at Lakewood high school. Our amazing football team always has the graduating seniors sign to their colleges. In this ceremony we are told that it doesn't matter where you come from, or your race, as long as you dream it and work hard for it you can achieve whatever you put your mind to. Alum: My high school experience at Boca Ciega High School was amazing. The teachers and administrators always kept me on track for success. Boca Ciega plays a big role in why I was able to go to college. The school has great programs such as the Medical Magnet and Fundamental programs. Also, Boca Ciega’s AVID program is top tier. They teach students numerous skills such organization, leadership, and communication. Additionally, AVID provided lessons on better studying strategies, helped with college admissions, and even informed me on ways to get financial aid such as FASFA. Senior: I am a senior at Hollins and have experienced three whole school years so far at this school. I can proudly say I was a student at this school and I really feel like the teachers and extracurriculars available have allowed me to make an impact on those around me in great ways. I have seen this school make great strides towards improvement as our entire court yard has been revamped during my time here and it looks wonderful. The one change I have yet to see is the effort of the administration to hear student voices. As a student I have always felt so distanced from the administrators at Hollins and this has created an anxiety about communicating with them. Senior: I'm a senior at Countryside High school, and I would say the major category I would improve within the high school would be administration. The communication and organization from them has consistently given me trouble. I have been enrolled in the Early College program for two years now, and attend St. Petersburg College as a high schooler, so I rely on digital information from the school. However, communication and organization is difficult to come by. I have been misinformed by emails and news from the school, and in some cases it almost put me and other students at a disadvantage when it came to important events, such as the graduation ceremony and the SAT. This school has been beneficial in other ways, however, such as in their academics. Attending countryside has prepared me for college, and I would say other than the administration, the school has many great qualities. Alum: I really enjoyed being at this school because they're were many opportunities for me. I was accepted into the Criminal Justice Academy where I learned about the different fields within the field. For example, I learned about cops, traffic, forensics, and other related topics. It was my favorite part about being at that school. I also really liked the football games and other sports here. The other academics at Pinellas Park helped me prepare for college. I wouldn't have known about finances if I didn't take financial algebra. I wouldn't have known about many things if I wasn't encouraged to take those interactive courses. There were many events that occurred on campus like Law Day, Disaster day, and plenty of assemblies. Junior: The teachers and people there are very nice and supportive of students, everything's pro-college and university, and teacher morale is great. Most students are nice, depending on your crowd. Generally, you stick with the students that are in your program. They have the CAICC program with several subcategories that vary from business, sports, health, food, construction, aerospace, art, etc. Every student has to choose one of the 4 subcategories that support different career options. Clearwater High school also has the AICE program, from the prestigious University in London; Cambridge. Students can work in advanced college level classes to earn their AICE diploma. A very college, endorsing school, they have the AVID college readiness class, and are a college center for students needing help with FAFSA and other college involved applications. Senior: Incredibly diverse atmosphere! The PCCA magnet program is second to none. It offers a fantastic arts education that's taught by an amazing faculty. The AP teachers are also all phenomenal. A number of fights do occur on campus, but they have never affected me personally. The main issue is that the administration aren't always the most helpful, or efficient. Senior: It was great I had a club there and I implemented recycling bins. I had some really enjoyable classes and some great programs are offered such as the construction architecture rotc robotics business comostology and engineering. I also liked the layout of the campus, the fact that it was really spread out and you could be outside a lot more often than other schools. I think they have a lot of clubs and activities that students can be apart of with easy access to the places. They give weekly updates to parents and the courses are good and the administration was also very helpful throughout my journey at Dunedin High School. They offer dual enrollment and a lot of college credits and different work and trade school credits. The whole experience can really be tailored to whatever you want it to be which is great because it helps prepare students for real life and what their life will be like outside of the high school bubble. Senior: I greatly enjoyed my experience at Richard O Jacobson, I made great friends, got a great education, had phenomenal teachers and to put the cherry on the cake when I graduate I get my CVA license. This school offers various options in careers and you can get started basically fresh out of highschool. The teachers are so helpful and are super understanding when it comes to how life can affect your school work. While the courses can be challenging they only help you in the long run and ensure that you have the skills you need for almost any job. There aren't any majors changes I would suggest as a lot of my ideas would need to go higher up in the school board.
