Senior: West High is a large school, but there is always going to be a place for someone to fit in. We have tons of different clubs and if there isn't one for what you would have liked, you can start your own! The teachers are amazing and compassionate people who care about your well being, there is always someone to talk to if needed. We have some of the best test scores in Iowa, as well as many AP classes such as psychology, government, art and engineering courses.

Senior: Some of the teachers are incredible; however, some are NOT. It really depends on the luck of the draw and the classes you choose to take part in. Most teachers, no matter their teaching ability, care strongly for the well being of their students. The environment is very caring and it is not challenging to find somebody like you. I have been here for four years and I think it was pretty good for high school at least!

Solon High School

Senior: Solon High School is one of the highlights of the Solon community. The football team is one of the most important aspects of the Solon lifestyle, and the community comes together for every game to support our phenomenal team. The community also gathers around our other award-winning groups and competitive teams, such as our jazz choirs, cross country teams, and National Honor Society. Every single teacher at Solon goes out of their way to ensure that students not only know but understand, which creates an outstanding academic program. Solon also offers multiple advanced and AP classes, but there is room for more rigorous classes in the schedule. Solon's biggest weakness, unfortunately, is diversity, which means that most students don't get to know very many minority classmates. This is an issue that is difficult to address, but as Solon has grown, it has slowly become more diverse.

Senior: Something that I admire about this school is that the teachers strive to educate the students to the best of their abilities and care about our success and want us to succeed. One thing that I would change about the school, targeted toward seniors specifically, is college readiness. In our district, many teachers accept late work and allow redos on homework and tests. I am not necessarily saying that this is a negative thing because it gives the students opportunities to fix and learn from their mistakes, but treating your final year of high school like college would greatly help. I have also brought up the idea of having mock-finals and mock-midterms to give the senior class of taste of what college tests and preparing for those tests are like.

Senior: My experience here has been both good and bad. It has been a good experience because I have learned a lot, and I have gotten to take classes that will help me in the future. My experience has been bad because of some teachers. Some teachers like to grade you really hard if you're a student that they don't really care for. The name game is a big part of sports in this school. If you don't have a well-known last name, then chances are you're going to sit on the bench during games. It doesn't matter if you work as hard as your teammates, or if you're a good athlete, if you don't have a well-known last name then you won't play. It's really sad to watch this happen, but it's the way everything happens nowadays.

Senior: More parent involvement so teachers can focus on teaching instead of teaching and parenting. Due to the lack of parenting by parents, teachers spend the majority of their time "raising" children rather than educating them.
