Hesston High School

Junior: The teachers are lovely and most try their best to make sure the content is understood. It’s a smaller school (about 260 students as of 2017), so most everybody knows everybody. I myself have never witnessed excessive bullying, but there will always be a few bad eggs. Bullies are taken care of by the staff once the problem is brought to their attention. The curriculum is easier than most schools; about 25 to 33 percent of students have a 4.0 GPA. Lots of effort is given to help student prepare for their next step in life with frequent visits from representatives of several colleges in the area.

Halstead offers the standard sports (football, basketball, track, baseball, etc) and has several clubs/organizations to belong too, so there is something for everyone.

Veritas Collegiate Academy

Senior: As a student I would like note that I really enjoyed my years at Veritas. I experienced a great deal of bullying at my last school. It affected me greatly, and caused depression. Veritas provided shelter for me to heal. It was academically challenging, and at the same time, the discipline was not heavy handed, but administered in a loving way. My last school (a local large Christian school) put the blame on both the bully and the student being bullied, and we were forced to share it under a warped view of biblical doctrine. That being said, it wasn't all roses. I did have a tough time with one of the faculty, who seemed not to care about the students, but heard he's not returning next year, which is good for the school. Other than that, attending Veritas was a very great and healing experience. I most certainly will give it 5 Stars.

Senior: The staff and students here are very welcoming and excepting on each new person that comes to the school. They do a good job of making sure that everyone has things figured out for what classes they want to do and helps them be more prepared for college and beyond. The teachers are easy to talk to and are willing to help you with any matter that you personally have an issue with. It can be both inside and outside of school, and both with classwork and emotional situations.
