Auburn High School
#2 Best Public High Schools in Cayuga County
- Auburn City School District, NY
Senior: Overall the school is very good and as with any school has any things that it can improve. The school being in a small city means that it is quiet and there isn't a lot of commotion. Most of the teachers are not only great at teaching but also wonderful people, while there are some (as I'm sure there in every school) that are neither of those or one but not the other. The building is nice along with most facilities being very. The school is very lucky to be located in such a good area. Being up the street from Owasco lake and having the lake's outlet flow behind the schools many sports fields makes it a beautiful place. Other schools could only dream of having such a campus. If you're a social person, you have no problem as there are plenty of people to interact with and many school events to take part in. Overall its a great school in a great area, and the students should count themselves lucky considering how truly bad other high schools around country can be.

Red Creek High School
#3 Best Public High Schools in Cayuga County
- Red Creek Central School District, NY
Niche User: I spent my years with a class that was so close and friendly to all of our 6o members. Being so small allowed us to connect to everyone. Nobody spent the day alone or without anyone to talk to. We call ourselves a family. Not only are we close to each other but to our teachers as well. Some students don't have the best life back home, so having the ability to stay after school from 230 to 330 with a teacher gives these students more time away. This one hour period has gained life long friendships with the teachers who are willing to listen to your problems both academic and emotional. Overall school is a comfort place. It's welcoming and a fantastic place to spend five days a week for most of your life.

The Studio School
- Private School
- New York, NY
- PK, K-8
Parent: My 10 yo is in her 6th year at Studio School. We could not be happier with the education she is receiving. She is filled with enthusiasm about Reading and Writing. The children are writing their own stories, and learning grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, and spelling in the process. She is excited about all of her work, and comes home from school ready to dive in to her homework. I am very impressed with the skills she is mastering at Studio. Studio's homework philosophy is also invaluable. Homework is between the teacher and the student and you should not be involved in ensuring that your child does his/her homework or checking it. I was skeptical at first, but it works! My daughter tells me that she has to get home early enough to have time for homework, or asks me to wake her early so she can finish an assignment. She is learning academically, becoming responsible for herself and her work, and she loves going to school. We can't recommend Studio School highly enough.

Southern Cayuga 7-12 Secondary School
#4 Best Public High Schools in Cayuga County
- Southern Cayuga Central School District, NY
Niche User: College courses and honors are available, however no AP courses. Teachers really get to know you since the school is small. Most work with you as your personal mentors. There are not an abundance of special study programs or the latest technology, but it is enough so you are receiving a quality education.

Union Springs Middle/High School
- Union Springs Central School District, NY
Niche User: The teachers are really good to talk to if you are having trouble. Some of the students can be cliquey but, if you do a sport like track, you'll meet a lot of nice people. Participating in sports or other extracurricular activities can help you balance your school schedule from your activities. I was kind of friends with everyone in my class because i participated in a lot of activities and met new people from those activities.

Weedsport Junior/Senior High School
- Weedsport Central School District, NY
Alum: Great small town place to raise kids. Town ethnicity is 100 percent white however, main resources of the school go to the sports team, whereas the music and arts are left far behind. Some AP college courses offered but does not prepare seniors well for college. Administration and parental involvement is monopolized by the same families that have lived there for years. School activities are planned and are strict, generic. Teachers are great and academics are of the top 10 percent. Clubs and activities are limited if your not in sports. Safety there is number one.

Moravia Junior/Senior High School
- Moravia Central School District, NY
High School Senior: Moravia gives many chances for children to do what they love and if they can't find a club do to that they can start their own. The parents want everyone to succeed and the teachers notice when something is wrong and want to help you fix it. The guidance group is very helpful no matter what you need and the principle knows everyone for who they are not for what they do in school.

Port Byron Senior High School
- Port Byron Central School District, NY
Senior: The thing that any aspiring high school students should know about Port Byron Senior High School is that it is small and with this size comes some advantages and disadvantages. For example, with this small size comes a lot of one on one interaction with the teachers. However, this small size also deprives this school of the resources that a larger school would have.
