Washburn Rural High School

Senior: I am currently a senior at Washburn Rural High School and in my experience, I have enjoyed it thus far. The school itself is very inviting and the Administration wants to make sure that you fit in where you feel most comfortable. Whether that's joining a club to joining your favorite sport. If you don't see your club? They will go out of their way to make it a club for you! Also, not to mention the academics. The courses taken at Washburn Rural are challenging, only for the better! The classes get students ready for college by being able to take Dual-Credit through Washburn University for half the price!
All in all, Washburn Rural has been a great experience and has taught me more than well enough to be very prepared for when continuing my education after high school!

Seaman High School

Senior: Seaman High School has provided me with an excellent high school experience. The teachers, counselors, administration, and janitors have been helpful to me when I need it and made sure that my academic needs are being met. Being a 5A school, there are quite a few students and teachers are great at assisting everyone to the best of their abilities. Especially this year, with the pandemic, teachers have been doing their absolute best with accommodating and being flexible with their lesson plans and student needs. There is not much I would say that needs to be changed at Seaman High School. The staff truly does their best to get students' needs and their own needs.

Silver Lake Junior/Senior High School
#3 Best High Schools for STEM in Shawnee County
- Silver Lake Unified School District, KS
- 57 reviews
Senior: Silver Lake has been a great start to my education. While it's not the largest school, most of the teachers are readily involved in their students' education and are happy to help. I'm not a fan of asking for help and get flustered when I get stuck on a problem, but my teachers were willing to work with me and had the patience to guide me to a solution. Throughout my time here, the resources available to us have continued to expand. I believe it was my sophomore year that Chromebooks were distributed to the student body and became a helpful tool in the curriculum. On top of that, the school started a T-Shirt Shop as an elective class in recent years. The faculty and administration have been supportive of student journalism and encouraged their endeavors fully. The community is heavily tied in with the school in the form of raising funds to parent involvement and spectating sporting events.
