Senior: It is a good school. While being on a military base, it is still diverse enough but we have have something in common, being a military child. And the support offered by the school and faculty themselves is excellent. Everyone is extremely supportive and there is hardly any bullying or things like you would have to worry about in a normal public school, but you still get the feel for the public school experience. With academics, the school offers dual enrollment with the University of Texas at Austin with core classes such as science, math, English, and history. They also offer Advanced Placement classes if you don't want to take the dual enrollment, and you'll still get the challenge and the credit hours for the class. The environment is super awesome, and so is school spirit. We all come together and it is a really nice place to be, especially compared to the other schools in the San Antonio area.... Senior: My senior class of 2020 would have been the first class to complete all four years of high school and graduate since our class was the one that opened up the school back in 2016. As a brand new school, we had the opportunity to create all new and lasting traditions that would leave a legacy. Although cut short by the pandemic, the teachers I've had have undoubtedly made me the person I am today by instilling in me a strong work ethic, determination, and have a true genuine care for the well-being of their students. The relationships I've had with not only the teachers, but the students is one i'll never forget! Junior: There's so many opportunities at Johnson, and all the programs are so well managed. It's rare to find a school that's competitive at football, wrestling, basketball, band, orchestra, choir, and theater. Band and orchestra have even performed and competed at the national level! Senior: Smithson Valley is one of the best schools in Texas. The academics are extremely competitive and so are the sports teams. Every teacher there is nice with an exception of a few older teachers. The dress code and other school policies are normal. Whenever there is an on-campus issue, the administration is always quick and discrete when handling the issue, communicating to the parents, staff, and students with transparency. ComalISD itself is run very well and the environment is uplifting and positive. The only critiques I have for Smithson Valley HS is that it does not validate its artists enough. Senior: I moved to San Antonio the summer before my junior year, and since then, I've had an excellent experience at Churchill High School. This high school has some of the most remarkable and passionate teachers I've ever met, which has enriched my high school career so much. They have a number of extracurriculars and clubs that connect students and make each person at Churchill High School feel like they are part of a special community. One thing that Churchill High School can improve on is to reduce its use of paper. Like most schools their is diversity between the students and the school doesn't do much to bring everyone together or to see each other as equal, at times certain people are favored more for certain things which can lead to missed opportunities for some students. Senior: I honestly really enjoyed my experience at Clemens, speaking a senior now GET INVOLVED AND KEEP ON TOP OF YOUR WORK! Your experience will be so much more enjoyable spending time with people who share similar interests, and when you can have two off periods your senior year. Take journalism/join the publications! The teacher, and organization is something I am extremely grateful for. I have met some of my best friends through that program, and still talk to past graduates today. You will learn real world experience, and BEEF up your resume in ways not thought possible. Take Dual Credit classes! They are insanely better and easier than AP and the teachers are amazing (plus you will receive college credit from just taking the class). Senior: Attending Brennan High School was an opportunity that I will never regret taking up. The access to a well-taught education, a large campus, and resources that allow for educational growth is what makes Brennan High School a good school. I was able to converse and connect with a number of students and teachers, and even share memories that some may view as monumental or historic. Our athletic and sports shine their way throughout Brennan, with our glowing football and soccer teams. The only thing I wish Brennan could change would be the student's will to learn. Learning is something I idealize, and I know that due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the will to learn has diminished for many students. Senior: Somerset high school is not just a high school. The admin are doing a great job at keeping everything in order during these COVID-19 times by having, COVID screening every Monday, quarantine anyone who come out positive and the people that were around that person. Other ways they are doing their part for us is enforcing masks, and enforcing 6 feet social distancing as much as possible. This school is also amazing at the college work. Senior: My experience here at O'Connor High School has been like no other because this community is full of diverse people who come with brilliance and are ready to learn each and every single day. This school has given me multiple connections with students, faculty, and most importantly teachers, having these connections ensures my success here and beyond high school. I was able to be part of multiple clubs like, National Honor Society, Student Council, Science Honor Society, and many more. The resources available to the students including myself are extraordinary, but a school doesn't come without its difficulties. A couple things I would like to see change is having more one and one time with teachers so students and myself can better grasp things and the learning we do everyday within the classroom. Sophomore: Karen Wagner High School is filled with diversity. Whether it’s religion, gender or race; everybody is different. That’s the main thing I enjoy at the school because there are people who are unique. When I meet new people, I experience a whole new aspect I haven’t experienced before. I also enjoy the many extra curricular activities like fashion club, robotics, and etc that brings people of similar interest together. With that comes making new friends, meeting several people and finding things about yourself that you haven’t known before. Wagner also provides courses that can assist in a student receiving college credit or to succeed in college. For instance, honors classes, Advanced Placement classes and Dual Credit, which is college classes. Although, with benefits comes with improvements. The food provided in the cafeteria can be better. Senior: Overall I would suggest Madison High School to any incoming freshman. There is a very diverse group of kids who attend ranging from intellectuals, artists, agriculturists, and athletes. The magnet program at Madison is great: it offers many different experiences partaining to agriculture related studies. By being a part of this magnet, students have access to an all new mechanics lab, meat processing lab, guide dog training program, and the opportunity to compete nationally in a wide array of subjects. Apart from that the school itself is known for its football and soccor teams, so the games offer a nice getaway from life's stresses. There is also a fairly wide array of clubs including UIL in both academics and athletics , the arts, and service. I myself am a part of the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Creative Writing Club, and used to be a member of the Varsity Swimming and Wrestling teams. Senior: Harlan high school is a recently opened school, so it has a very clean a new campus. Harlan does a lot of things right when it comes to academics and sports. The teachers love to be with the students and are extremely helpful to all the students. The athletic coaches are even better, they push the athletes to be not only good athletes but great people. Senior: Robert G. Cole is a military school on Fort Sam Airforce Base. Because of its nature, the school houses some of the most respectful people I have had the pleasure of talking to. The students know what is expected of them, and they take all the opportunities the school provides. Cole is constantly changing, and it adds new classes and invites students to try many academic ventures. Teachers love what they do and share their knowledge with the students well. Here at Cole, we incorporate a "flex" system, that is to say, our schedules are flexible. On certain days and during certain periods, we are allowed to visit another teacher's classroom, which allows us to study, catch up, or just hang out. Senior: I've gone to Jefferson High School for my whole years (Senior about to graduate) and it's honestly been pretty nice! I love all the different details in the building, even the interior of the school itself is quite a view to see. Going from how big the auditorium is, to the small yet, beautiful lantern lights down the main hall. And though the staff and everyone there is nice, some rules could definitely be changed or so. Such as bathrooms across campus being closed. I get there have been trouble with some students there, but it's honestly a hassle for a lot of students, including myself. Other than that, the teachers I've met at Jefferson have all been very nice and welcoming. I even miss a few of them I had for my Junior year! But now being able to graduate soon from this school is truly something else. And I do hope this school can upgrade a few things here and there for the future students that'll attend....
