Junior: Well I have been at this school for a while. I feel that if I didn't go to this school at all then I wouldn't be the person I am today. Nest +m led me to grow as a person and it aloud me to meet new people who some became my friend. Well one thing that I would like changed probably for the high school that we get more trips. This is because some times with basically having no or little trips us high schoolers are stressed out and it hurts our mental health and that isn't good. But overall Nest +m is a good school.... Alum: this school truly made me the person i am today. it’s a tight knit community, and because of the small grade size, everyone knows each other. the staff cares about the students & pushes a mindset of respect and acceptance of all, and the teachers do a great job in general, the academics and classroom environment are enjoyable and stimulating, and special classes are given every day. there’s a lot of clubs and activities you could get involved in, as well as a bunch of fun events for the student body year round. this school builds character and i highly recommend sending your child here. i am going into high school, and i still think fondly of my time at castlewood.... Alum: This is a great school. I went to Anderson for 7 years (K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) and I thought it was great for my development as a student in the community of learning. The academics are amazing, the teachers are very encouraging, and I was lucky to be in the best class ever. The school is small, but it brings the community together really well. I loved Anderson through many ups and downs. It prepares students really well for high school admissions and I truthfully think that it was super helpful during my early years as a student. They have great programs and experiences, especially for the kids in K-4. I wouldn't be where I am today without Anderson, and I am eternally grateful for all that this wonderful school has taught me. This school has a great environment. Anderson focuses on integrity and gratitude. It's the kind of school where the life lessons you learn will stick with you forever. It certainly has stuck with me. Senior: I have attended both Special Music School's lower school and high school, so please note that this review is only about the high school. Despite its small size, it is a very good high school that provides a magnitude of opportunities for students to explore both their academic and musical interests at a high level. The school has its flaws, as does any, but you are able to truly shape your high school experience by collaborating with your teachers, and take any class that you really want to. There are many clubs you can participate in (debate team, math team, anime club, etc.), the same amount as there are in a big school. As for the music curriculum, private lessons are a crucial part of music education. All students at Special Music School receive free private lessons with actual musicians which is not part of the curriculum at any other performing arts school in New York. I have previously attended Queens Preparatory Academy, where I graduated as valedictorian and was accepted into the SEEK program at Queens College. At Queens College, I was elected as the president of the Generation Leader program in the SEEK Department and was also given an opportunity by the Student Association to portray the role of an Academic Senator. Middle School Student: Amazing time here, and all the teachers took there time out to really help. You're able to stay after lunch to get extra help if needed, or even find opportunities to further you in high school. They teach amazingly, and the students here helped me too. High School Senior: The students are overall good. There are a small handful of kids that are disrespectful/rowdy that constantly get disciplined. The school as a whole is on the cliquey side. Alum: The teachers are very nice and helpful. The teachers do not change around regularly so the teachers in the school knows every student in the school very well. The school has a very clean environment and great study environment. The cafeteria also provides healthy food for students and even the staff at the cafeteria are nice to the students. Middle School Student: The lunch food is rlly bad but then again it is a public school. The teachers seem to care about you a lot. If they see your upset they will try to comfort you and they are really easy to talk to. The guidance department is crazy about high school which is a really good thing. They start getting you to think about it from 6-8th grade. The basketball team is good this year. Wish there were more sports teams and after school activities though.... Read 1 review
