Parent: The staff try very hard. There are A LOT of students, however, so it seems like a lot to manage and the classroom environment can become chaotic. There is a no homework policy for the youngers which some could see as good or bad. I feel that disciplinary tactics are lacking and that too soft an approach can lead to entitled brats....... The teachers are professionals, the administration calm and responsive, the community is supportive, and the facilities upgraded in the latest bond to include a focus on safety. Parent: Lake Grove Elementary is the #1 public elementary school in the #1 school district in the state for so many reasons. The quality and demeanor of the teachers, leaders, and staff are incomparable. The teacher to student ratios are excellent, the learning programs raise the bar for academic standards, and emphasis on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) as well as diversity and inclusion is helping to shape our children to become better people. The parents, families, and community is highly involved and supportive beyond the PTA to include volunteerism, support for sports and art/theater programs, and all around pride in the look and feel and experience of the school. Parent: This is a K-8 Mandarin immersion school with a tight-knit small cohort of students, great teachers and admin, and lots of opportunities for parental involvement. My daughter attended this school from 4th to 8th grade. She formed strong ties with her classmates since these were the same students from year to year. The academic program is more rigorous than a typical public school. So students learn from early on, time management and organizational skills. Most of the students transition to high school without a problem, and many end up taking advanced placement classes. As this is a smaller school, the extra curricular activities offered by the school especially in sports, are lacking. Students can however, sign up for extra curricular activities offered by the other schools in the Beaverton School District. The Art Literacy program is taught by parent volunteers. There is no Music program. Parents also head up the chess and math club. Highly recommended Mandarin immersion school!... Read 7 reviews

Alum: I attended Bethany Elementary kindergarten through fourth grade, and it was a great place to learn and grow up. The teachers were kind, fun, and taught us to be comfortable with challenges and overcome them. Middle School Student: I loved Bonny Slope because when I was a student there, I was treated with kindness and learned a lot. The teachers are very friendly and when we have assemblies or class presentations from some of them, they teach us to be kind and respect eachother as we are growing. In 5th grade, I was taught how to get ready for Middle School. At Bonny Slope, we were indefinetly set up for success, which is ultimetly the most important thing that we could learn at a school.... Alum: I went here all through K-5 about a decade ago. I really loved it. It's a cute, homey school building with art on the walls and books in every corner. The cafeteria walls are actually one giant mural! Beaverton school district has a lot of prison meets office looking elementary schools, and the cute one story 70's building with a high percentage of families walking to school is wonderful. It's an extremely diverse school, and to this day I'm so grateful for how much that benefitted my childhood.... Read 1 review

Parent: Riverdale's K-8 program is a rare gem amongst public schools, in my opinion. My children have attended since kindergarten, and we all agree the school is phenomenal. The small class size provides a safe, supportive environment that challenges students to go deep and persevere with curiosity. The curriculum is hands-on and offers many creative experiences beyond the classroom. The district has a foundation to augment the funding per child received from the state. I wish all schools had our funding. It really makes a difference. The K-8 experience prepares them well for high school which then sets them up for success after graduation. Alum: I made several friends there that I still know and am in contact with even in high school. The best parts were the classroom parties and the field trips were spectacular! The field trip to Phillip Foster Farms was exciting because we learned the US historical context of moving west at such a young age and it inspired us to learn more (this is why I am taking AP US History next year in high school). In addition, the business marketplace segment of fourth grade was very rewarding because that's when I learned the value of money and how to manage it and keep it safe.... Read 3 reviews

Middle School Student: The school was good for an elementary school. There were lots of nice teachers, though there were some that weren’t as nice. It’s a very friendly and welcoming school when I attended, but their specials classes could use some work I think. Middle school student: Rock Creek is a good school, I went there for two years and I have to say compared to a lot of other schools, it is a good elementary school, it is very welcoming and a lot of the teachers are kind. The only thing I would say I had a bad experience with was the rumors, drama, and the students. Last year and in 4th grade when I went there, all people cared about was your clothes, if you wear makeup, and phones, even shoes. I think I was too young to have to have this pressure at school when I was nine. I hope that that has changed though. All of the kids I went to school with have already gone to middle school except for the fourth graders who are now fifth grade. So don't take my word for it.... Read 2 reviews
