Alum: I really liked going here! I attended this school from second grade until I graduated high school, and I wouldn't change it for the world. I love the friends I made, and the school spirit. The only issues I would say are: the deans and administration are not on your side and want to punish people. Detentions are handed out left and right, dress code is beyond strict, and seniors do not get any privileges. Despite all of this, finding a good of people at this school will get you through the day, and you will love Willow. Parent: I must say that this school has a great formula for school-to-home connections. I really appreciated the inviting atmosphere that was created for my children as well as others to gain meaningful learning experiences. Parent: I love the opportunity for my grandchildren to learn a different language. ISL is a top 10 language immersion school, kindergarten through 8th grade, average size classrooms with 2 teachers each. Along with the core subjects, Art, Circus Arts, Music, and PE are included. They have a good after care program. In the morning there is carpool dropoff, but no carpool pickup in the afternoons, so I would like that to change. Bus service can be provided depending on your location. There are several campuses that teach Spanish, French, and other languages, teachers are from various countries. It's an amazing school! Rated Gambit's Top School 2022. Seats fill up quick! So don't hesitate! Kindergarten students are not required to know the target language upon enrollment, 2d grade students must have knowledge of the target language to be accepted into ISL. Middle School Student: I'm not going to exaggerate at all on this review. This school isn't the best you'll ever find, but it's one of the better ones here in Louisiana. There are certainly some good teachers here (mainly Bonnie Stokes, Michele Cassidy, and Melissa Grant) and some bad ones (who I prefer not to name). The grades are unimpressive, but very good by Louisiana standards. There are very few clubs and enrichment classes are only slightly above average in terms of how much I've learned. Safety is very important to the school which is both a good thing and a bad thing. Common games like tag have been banned. Overall, if there were a better school in this area, I would go. However all the schools other than Tchefuncte Middle School are either just as bad/good or slightly worse.... Read 3 reviews

Parent: Everything about our experience was wonderful. The teachers are exceptional. They genuinely care about their students’ education and over all well being. The administration and support staff was very helpful and quick to respond. The parent/teacher communication is easy via the app and weekly newsletter. We had very good experience with speech therapy. The outdoor facilities are nice-good play area and good resources for exercise and play for recess and PE. They did a fantastic job handling covid issues. I love the proximity to Walnut St. playground for after school. The building is beautiful and safe. The PTO is active and does a good job of organizing events to involve parents and show appreciation for the teachers. It is a very good community and my kids are off to a great start to a life in which they ENJOY learning. I had a kindy and a 1st grader this year. Parent: Amazing administration, kind and creative teachers, high parent involvement, well-maintained building and campus -- overall it's a very positive environment. I agree that they do not have a very diverse student body population but still more so than surrounding private schools. As with many schools in Louisiana and the south in general, it is heavy on rules (more of an "authoritarian" model) that make little sense other than making sure that everyone complies. My daughter, who came from a Montessori environment, was shocked at the need to blow whistles and holler at kids when they are out of order at lunch and on the playground. Senior: Pretty good school but also very tedious. There are some teachers that gives an awful amount of schoolwork, but having good time management and actually doing your work will get you through. Freshman to Junior year were pretty chill, but reaching Senior year was when things started to get very tedious, especially when you had to focus on both personal and school life. Students were well-behaved but a lot of them, mainly freshmen, always get caught vaping in the bathroom. I advise that you do these activities at your own personal time because it’s incredibly annoying when the bathrooms are closed at certain times. The school definitely needs a lot of improvements like being a specific race to enter school because of “racial ratio” (don’t know why that’s a thing), how education supposed to work (take Finland for ex.), and making a better schedule (not that hard). Parent: The school staff are very caring. There are several opportunities for involvement with different clubs that serve the community. They incorporate the arts into daily lessons. If you are musically talented you can join the band. The school is involved in trying to raise awareness including hosting a Disabilities Awareness Day yearly.
