While the rigor is that of a college preparatory school, the teachers are very supportive in assisting students meet the academic expectations. The emphasis on the arts from LS all the way through the US is quite awesome! Senior: I have been a student at Rockford Christian since pre-K 3. During my time here, I have made many amazing friends, and have had the privilege of being taught by many amazing teachers. I am a very math and science oriented student. This year, our Science Olympiad, FTC Robotics, and ICTM Math teams all advanced to state, winning several awards. Being a part of these teams was an amazing opportunity to pursue my interests outside of the classroom. I have also been on the Bass Fishing, Rocketry, and Scholastic Bowl teams, and have had a lot of fun in those. There are opportunities to serve in the student council, NHS, and Key Club, and our athletic teams always succeed in their competitions. I was on the swim team for four years, and made many of my best friends that way. In the Fall, I will be attending Duke University. Parent: Really like the culture of this school! Feels like everyone knows and supports each other. Teachers communicate fairly well with parents but I do feel like academics aren’t to the “private school level” they could or should be. More opportunities to mentor students, provide enrichment and set higher expectations would really push students to a higher standard. That being said, we completely understand that students are playing catch up after the chaos of covid. Alum: Walking into my first day of senior year, I was filled with excitement. Although I was unsure of what was to hold, it felt so right to be at Christian Life. As a senior year transfer, many people were questioning me about where I'm from or why I chose here. I began to feel overwhelmed. I was walking to my fourth-period class but got stopped by an outgoing, redhead. She walked me to class and constantly made me laugh. She is now one of my best friends. The class I was walking to became my favorite class. Christian Life has not only shown me the importance of feeling loved, blessed, and cared for but brought me a wonderful friend. I am beyond thankful for my experience at Christian Life as it has shown me to never be afraid to take the chance. They have amazing teachers who want to work with you and share a special bond not just inside the classroom but also outside of the classroom. Parent: My son is in his first year at Iqra school, and we both love the school! From the academics, to the extra-curricular, to the teachers it's superb! I enrolled my son and started with Sunday school and since then he just wants to go to Iqra. The class sizes are not too big and I believe every kid gets teachers special attention. Alum: Attending Spectrum School was a fantastic experience! It truly gave me the foundation I needed to succeed in life and in my career. When I think back on my graduating middle school class, almost all of us went on to receive advanced degrees (many of which were Ph.D.'s). Spectrum instilled in all of us a genuine passion for learning and understanding. I cherish my memories of attending Spectrum as a boy. Those experiences are truly irreplaceable! The kindness and patience of my teachers, playing outside every day on Project Playworks, participating in amazing extracurriculars like doing The Hobbit as a play, and never feeling behind or lost during class. The friendships I made there were life-long. Most importantly, each day I was HAPPY to go to school and see my friends and teachers (thank you Carole, Jackie, Mary Joe, Kathy, Sharon, Laurie, Barb, Susan, etc.). Parent: I am a parent of three graduates from OLSHA that all went to the college of their choice. Not only have they all kept their faith, but they know it and live it every day. The school has grown from it's 11th St location to a new 30 acre sight and is one of the most beautiful campuses in Rockford. They now have 6 varsity IHSA sports for boys and 5 for girls. The athletics program has been growing rapidly over the last 5 years. The football team has made it to the playoffs three times! The entire staff practices their faith and not only see teaching as a job, but as a personal apostolate. If you want your child to grow up loving God, knowing the truths about this great country, being completely educated, then you want to send your children to OLSHA as the rest of my children are and will be there as well....
