Ambleside School
Parent: The good, the true, and the beautiful are all exemplified through Ambleside's focus on Christ-centered education. The literature based curriculum has a high regard for original work, challenging language, and ideas that stimulate imagination. Short lessons focused on attentive work rather than just mindlessly filling out worksheets leaves time for nature studies, handwork, and time spent outdoors. One of my favorite details is the educational atmosphere free from the distractions of technology. Ambleside is not a religious school that gives lip service to building character, it is deeply ingrained in the Charlotte Mason philosophy. Virtue is taught through reading rich texts about people both real and imagined. Through this, children learn that virtue is more than an honor code vowing not to cheat. It is something to be strived for in even the smallest details of life, everything from having a good attitude about an unwelcome task to seeking to resolve conflict between classmates.
