Senior: Overall, my experience at Tower Hill has been positive. It is truly a college prep school, most alumni will say that Tower Hill was equally as hard – or easier than – their college. The things they teach as early as middle school are important life skills that will set you ahead in college, like structuring a five paragraph essay and learning study skills. The staff is wonderful and it is very clear that they care about their students. They are always willing to go the extra mile to help students one-on-one. If I could change one thing about the school, it would be the diversity. Although they have made growing efforts to increase diversity in the community since I came in second grade, such as admitting students from different financial backgrounds and hiring more diverse staff, there is still much work to be done to make Tower Hill a truly diverse community.... Sophomore: I have truly enjoyed my experience at Archmere Academy. Coming from a large public middle school, to a small, Catholic school was a big transition for me. I love the academic opportunities at the school. Not only can I challenge myself and find classes that interest me, I also have teachers who are passionate about what they teach and are always willing to help students understand via one-on-one time, questions in class, or new lessons. I personally enjoy the arts program and the athletics program; both showcase the talent of the students and allows students to channel their energies. Senior: Tatnall is a pretty good school all things considered. The campus is beautiful and everyone there is friendly and welcoming for the most part. They have some good sports teams and a nice schedule for the students giving down time throughout the day to get other work done. My only complaint would be the math department. Which is really bad at Tatnall and all the students know it. It is a shame all of the money for tuition and these are the kind of teachers they hire. That may sound harsh but it is true. And if you want to send your kids here it would be best to start them early because it will be tougher on them trying to make friends when almost everyone else is a lifer there. In short, I would send my kids here because they have good college counseling that will be very useful in getting into their desired college. Senior: I have attended Sanford throughout middle and high school. I am impressed with the school’s emphasis on the individual rather than the group. I can always count on my teachers whenever I need extra help on a topic, especially the science teachers at Sanford. As a graduating senior, I had a great experience with the college counselors, who equip you with the right tools when navigating college and the application process. I was involved heavily in the athletics program, and I think a valuable aspect of Sanford is that everyone makes a team no matter your skill level. Parent: Sending our sons to Salesianum School was the best decision we ever made. I have three sons with very different interests. My boys have participated in band, theatre, Science Olympiad, basketball, soccer, baseball, tailgate club, ping pong club, guitar club and others. Academically I could not ask for more. My oldest two sons were both accepted into many colleges with scholarships and are currently in the Honors Program at UD. Sallies prepared them with the study and organizational skills to be independent and successful in college and later in life. The best part about Sallies is the brotherhood. My sons have each met "their people" and have made life long friends. My two sons in college still hang out with their Sallies friends on breaks. Sallies teaches the students about hard work and dedication as well as humility and compassion for others. Sallies develops the students to be well rounded respectful adults. Parent: We have 6 children, all who have attended or still attend over the years. This is the education I wish I had received. I’m particularly fond of the grammar school emphasis on teaching the tools of learning through memorization, songs, and repetition. My kids learned logic and argumentation during the middle school years (and can beat me at most any debate), after which they study rhetoric and how to communicate by studying the classics and great orators. Most importantly to me is that our kids have learned to think, how to uncover worldview, as well as apply a Biblical understanding. Not only that, but the staff are loving toward our children, and we consider them friends. Sophomore: Ursuline is a fantastic community full of amazing teachers, staff, and students. I have attended Ursuline since I was in kindergarden, and I am privileged to be a part of such a wonderful school! The classes are extremely immersive and the teachers are very supportive and able to offer one on one attention and guidance when needed. The classes are all focused on increasing confidence and leadership skills, while also challenging you to push yourself to learn on new levels. The sisterhood at Ursuline is also an incredible thing to experience. All of the girls are so kind and welcoming, and it truly makes you feel so accepted and connected to everyone. Freshman: Caravel Academy is a close-knit school with great academics and community. I feel comfortable contacting the administration, as they are very kind. Something I certainly enjoy is knowing [of] everyone, or almost everyone at school. It is a safe environment, and there are opportunities for everyone. As for teachers, I have liked many of them throughout my school career. In fact, I still keep in touch with a good amount of my past teachers. There's a good diversity of people here, and I feel supported. It is worth it to mention the beautiful Early Education Center building. I do not have a lot of critiques for this school. The cafeteria food improved a great deal this year. However, I do feel that the dress code can be questionable at times; no one should have to tuck a T-shirt in on spirit day. Parent: Our teen started at Saint Mark's as a Freshmen this year. Despite the pandemic, it has been a smooth transition academically. The faculty and staff truly care about the students. This is evident in the level of communication between both student-teacher and parent-teacher. There are many ways to get involved beyond the classroom- sports, clubs, performing arts. Safety has been a top priority especially due to COVID. Students' emotional well-being has also been a priority. Sophomore: Red Lion is a mid-sized, private, Christian school in the Bear/Red Lion area of Delaware. They're affiliated with Glasgow Christian Academy, a co-op homeschool group, and together they make up Reach Christian Schools. Red Lion has exceptional school spirit, a variety of extracurriculars and sports, and offers an Honors program for students who excel in the classroom. I attend Glasgow Christian Academy but spend lots of time on the Red Lion campus- the office is super friendly and gives great advice to guide students. Senior: There are many things to be said for Saint Elizabeth High School. The small environment allows for a close, familial feel, and I can say I know everyone in my graduating class. It also offers a good range of programs, sports, and classes. There is also an ease in connect with teachers and communicating issues with administrative staff. Nearly all teachers respond to emails quickly. I would not change much about the school, but I would’ve liked more AP classes, along with teachers who are more comfortable with the subject matter he or she is teaching. Senior: Wilmington Christian School features strong academics with many passionate teachers. For a school of its size, Wilmington Christian has excellent culture and activities, but the sports programs are a bit lacking. There are resources, but they are not always correctly allocated. Parent involvement is high, as well as student involvement. The music and arts programs are excellent and receive much more funding than a public school. The student population is not very diverse, but there is an exchange student program. The majority of students graduate prepared for college. It is a very safe school, due to its location in Hockessin, Delaware. The administration is quite good and works hard to accommodate every student. The food comes from a service called myhotlunchbox. The facilities are above average. The science and technology departments are excellent, while math is slightly above average. Senior: I've been going here for 2 years, starting in Junior year, and I'll be graduating this spring. The school has exceptionally supportive staff members. They all care about us, and want to see us be the best we can be. Speaking as a student, there are some aspects that I would like to see change, but they are very minor things, such as adding art class back into the list of high school extra-curriculars. I have been involved in drama, choir, volleyball, cheerleading, softball, debate team, and teachers-aid at school, and I've had amazing experiences on stage, made memories on the field/court and at debate meets that I'll never forget, and made connections with elementary students that have really opened my eyes to how amazing and creative little kids can be. Niche User: My 2 grandchildren attend Concord Christian Academy. They started in K4 and the oldest is now in 3rd grade. I have felt blessed since day one when were leaving and the school secretary said a sweet goodbye to my granddaughter and used her name. I was impressed! I thank God every day for this school. The teachers are all very caring and go above and beyond to make sure the students succeed. They are available to us anytime via text, phone or in person. Any issues or problems are handled right away. It's very diverse and like a family. Our 2nd and 3rd grader are learning things their 4th grade friend is not taught in public school. Nothing but positive things to say and feel about CCA. Also for a school this size there are good sports, art, computer, gym, music and language classes for all! Middle School Student: Overall, I enjoyed my time at Mount Aviat, all three years of it. The academics are amazing and will have your child not just ready for high school, but make it seem easy once you get there. Usually most middle schools don't allow students to have recess but all students PK-8 get around a 15-20 minute recess period. The one thing that did annoy me was all the restrictions on our Chromebooks. The school has an extension added to each student's Chromebook called "GoGuardian" which allows the schools administration to block websites, apps, and videos from the student. Goguardian is removed from the students Chromebook after that student no longer attends the school. Alum: I am an alumnus of Independence and also a current parent. This isn’t just a school, but a community. The focus is not just on academics but also on citizenship and community service. This school prepared me for a rigorous curriculum in both high school and college.
