Junior: The Taft School is truly a top notch academic institution. Theres no doubt that the courses are rigorous, the teachers give a ton of one on one attention to their students, extra help is always available, and the classes offer both variety and rigor. This school truly values students who want to succeed and work hard, whether that be by cheering on everyone else at games, or putting in your best work in the classroom. However, the school is not focused enough on clubs and has a very waspy culture. A lot of the students are stuck up and cold, unwilling to seek out friendships. Additionally, the school neglects some of the clubs, focusing instead on sports. If you are a smart athlete who might do a club here or there, Taft is for you. The school is truly amazing, and much of the student body is great, but the Connecticut culture runs deep- so if you don't fit into that- be aware you won't fit into the social majority.... Senior: Holy Cross is more than just a school that you attend for four years, it is a community. When applying and looking where I wanted to attend high school, Holy Cross was not to school I originally wanted to go to. That all changed when I started the application process and was able to witness what Holy Cross is truly about. The environment at Holy Cross can be described as a family. Holy Cross offers opportunities for each of the students whether in the classroom, on the field/court, on the stage, etc. It is a school where students will strive academically. Parent: This is our first year attending Torrington Christian but have participated in sports & after school clubs in prior years. Both of my children love it (8th and 9th grade). The teachers are attentive to each child and both of them are thriving. They teach them to be responsible for their work/actions and respectful to all. They have both grown academically, biblically and socially. They love their peers and have made wonderful friends. Parent: In 1 year, Wellspring and The Arch Bridge School have transformed my daughter from a severely dysfunctional teen who wasn’t able to go to school, take care of herself and had no interest in day-to-day living to a B+ student who attends regularly, enjoys her classes, has made friends and is taking an active role in her treatment. She’s making plans for college, for a career and believes she has a bright future ahead. IT’S A MIRACLE. The staff have empathy and lots of experience and treat the girls with care and respect.
