Parent: Phillips Academy offers an excellent education for the student who asks, "What more is there?" "Who else can I meet?" "I want to learn about..." Andover is a large school supported by passionate and intelligent faculty, students and staff who all contribute to the intellectual and supportive environment. Nearly half of the students are on scholarship thereby enabling a diversity of domestic and international students to access the campus and curriculum. According to my kids, everyone there is excited to learn, happy to help out and passionate about what they are doing. They are thankful for their opportunity. I give Andover 4 stars because unless you come in as a D1 athlete, they don't support a student to grow into an athlete & will cut students at a low level. I believe all students should be supported despite whether they play in a game. Lastly, the cost of attending is not fully transparent: For those who do not qualify: tuition is $70,000 plus 4%+ a year so plan ahead.... Read 160 reviews

Parent: My son is currently a senior at Governor's and has had a fantastic experience! It truly is a very special place and we are so grateful he has had the opportunity to attend...The academics are definitely tough, but Governor's finds a way to create balance. There are prep schools out there that are so rigorous kids are stressed out and depressed. I distinctly recall touring one elite school which had an entire floor of a building dedicated to counseling offices because kids were so stressed out. That is not the case at Govs. Balance is important in life and Govs makes a conscious effort to explicitly weave that into the experience. Senior: I have had an excellent experience at St. John’s Prep. Although I have experienced many challenges, the school has done an excellent job in preparing me for college. Additionally, I have felt that the school guides its students every step of the way, which instills a sense of confidence in all of us. The school culture is great. Although we are a sports powerhouse, the school does a good job at promoting other aspects of student involvement, such as drama productions. Parent: APH is a great school that cares about the students, their education and emotional wellbeing. Still somewhat new, they’re carving their path to be among one of the best. We love the all girl education. When looking at the school, it wasn’t on our radar - having now experienced it, our daughter prefers it, saying it relieves so many social pressures. Other things we love about APH are - hands on learning, ability to teach outside the classroom, community service projects, small class sizes, daily advisory with support from teachers and knowing they care about our daughter. Senior: I have absolutely loved my experience at MC. From the start, everyone has always been so friendly and welcoming. I have never seen anyone with a frown in the classrooms and the teachers always make learning fun. It doesn't even feel like learning in the sense that we are all stuck in a classroom listening to a boring speech the entire time. It's interactive! Parent: I can't say how grateful we are that we found Tower. Our son loves his teachers so much. I really appreciate the policy of including everyone at Tower and the feeling of being part of a great family that everyone at Tower gives you. From the first day, you're welcome to enter the school and see your child in their classroom and comfort them if needed. This is a great opportunity that not every school provides, especially after COVID, most schools that I know through my friends don't let parents in at all! Above that, there are these very interesting and lovely assemblies two days each week that parents can attend and be directly in contact with faculty and staff as well as get to know the school's different programs and events for each week. Parent: I honestly can’t say enough about St. Joseph School in Wakefield. I have sons in 6th grade and 7th grade. The small class sizes allow for individualized attention. This school has some of the most creative, unique, caring teachers that I’ve ever encountered. The 5th grade teacher does a lot of project based learning that encompasses research, writing, presentations, creating a model (ex. a Mayan temple), and learning culturally relevant songs. The creative writing program is second to none. It is excellent preparation for their rigorous middle school program that will prepare them well for any high quality private or public high school. Our students are known for their comfort in public speaking; they get a lot of practice. The small class sizes also allow the teachers to stay on top of monitoring social media etc. that our middle schoolers may be on. Junior: The school is really great and everyone is very kind. The community is caring and supportive. It definitely has made a difference in my ability to approach projects and assignments with far less anxiety. Boarding is ok however, as an older student it is very restrictive at times with a lot of rules. Some students really love boarding and like it here better than being at home and never go home on the weekends. There’s kids who board who I never see and always go home on the weekends. The level system is a good concept, but it can be infuriating. Most boarders live in New England and on weekends a lot of the students go home because of this sometime the weekends make campus feel like a ghost town. However, there are always places to go because we’re so close to Boston and isn’t in the middle of nowhere like a lot of boarding schools are.
