Freshman: I love Blanchet Catholic School for its many redeeming qualities. The school and its staff make it a priority to make sure that students are comfortable and excelling. Though the school may not have many academic programs and clubs, the available ones are of high quality and have been a lot of effort into. One area of improvement at Blanchet Catholic School is its diversity and school culture, which are lacking in multiple accounts. Alum: Over my fours years at Livingstone Adventist Academy, I couldn't have asked for anything more in a private high school. The feel was not that of a large school, but of an interconnected family who knew everyone. The teachers there genuinely care about your success and are there for you at all times. If you ever have a question, they are there for you to come to them. The other fellow students there are also very accepting and understanding to all of those that come in regardless of their previous background. Parent: We put our 6 kids into Western Christian three years ago now. One has since graduated, and we still have 3 elementary aged, one middle, and one high school student there. This school has been absolutely incredible for my kids, and the community is like nothing else. Teachers are genuine, caring, and Christ-focused. My kids have great friends, have found several mentors among teachers, staff, and coaches, and we have seen the "Western family" really step up time and time again through prayer and practical support for our family and many others. Junior: Salem Academy is a Christan school, with a chapel on Wednesdays and 45-minute classes. I moved here halfway through my sophomore year and met some of my best friends, teachers, and love for God I had ever met. I was swarmed the first day with friends whom I will have a relationship with my whole life, and a real opportunity to learn with the small classroom sizes. I was blessed, to say the least. We are sheltered in a good way and taught the things we should be taught. The community is more like a family then a school, when one is down everyone is asking if you're okay. Parent: A small country school with all of the amenities of the bigger schools. The drama program is amazing, the best I've ever seen. The athletics are competitive, better than many larger schools, the students are encouraged to play more than 1 sport. The teachers care, really care... students are respected and valued at Regis. Senior: WVCS has had a huge impact on both my social life and my faith. The staff there know each student individually, and are fully devoted to seeing us succeed academically, in career, and in faith. Everything they do is to help us, and they are willing to go above and beyond to assist any particular student. The Christian atmosphere present at WVCS is very evident. We have one chapel a week, as well as a Bible class daily. The school also hosts many spiritual outings and events, such as worship nights, which include worships sessions and a sermon, as well as the overnight Spiritual retreat at the beginning of each school year. These have really helped me create a firm foundation in God. I am fully satisfied with my attending on WVCS, and I love every day here. Parent: Our child is a fourth grader at Queen of Peace school, and has been there since first grade. We toured several private schools in our area when kiddo was entering elementary school, and the environment and people (students and families alike) at Queen of Peace were hands-down the most warm and welcoming from the very start. In addition, we have found the academics at QPS top-notch. Kiddo is thriving in his studies, and the extra-curricular programming in the environmental sciences, art, music and PE has been excellent. I am grateful the kids get 3 recesses each day and several field trips each year to plays/musical performances and outdoor education locations (the Hatfield Marine Science Center being a notable one for us). The campus is transforming into an environmental science lab in itself - from gardens to worm bins and beyond! Kids are encouraged to get their hands dirty and learn experientially. Junior: The now called Crosshill Christian School is the single most interactive welcoming community I have ever been a part of. The staff is supportive and I have a friendship/strong relationship with all the staff and students alike. the school has instilled many of the good features and qualities that I have today, I wouldn't be where I am now in the leadership of my youth group without the connections and guidance from my classmates and the faculty above me. As I look upon the leadership my school provides I am encouraged to give back and serve at this school in the future and that is why I am going to college and become a teacher and join the educational workforce.... Parent: SVDP has seen a lot of change in a short amount of time. Transitional times may be marked by staffing instability, low morale, and conservative growth. However, SVDP apparently took great care in choosing its leadership and patiently laid a foundation for growth. Not only has the student and staff bodies grown, but the quality of the dual-language immersion program has surpassed expectation. SVDP occupies a difficult space in which they must focus not only on their mission and values as they pertain to their Catholic faith, but also on the nascent language program recently brought to the school. Parents and students are invited to be participants in the shaping of their school, and the shared ownership is felt and appreciated. Their commitment to the community is tangible. Negative experiences are limited. The school facilities are aging and will need repairs and upgrades.
