Parent: As the mother of a recent graduate, I can say that there is no way to put a price tag on everything this school has provided for my son. I would pay for this education again if I had to; it has been just that valuable to him! The learning environment "doesn't feel like school" (his words) because it is so engaging, interesting, and fun! The peer group is unmatched and I can tell that his graduating class will be friends for a lifetime. The teachers and other school employees foster a very relational way of interacting with the students; it felt like a big family! During his seven years at the school, Albuquerque Academy has given my son both roots and wings. He is now ready to fly into the world and make an impact on it, taking with him the knowledge and confidence he gained during his time at the school. Parent: Our kids are students at Menaul, and they have greatly grown both personally and academically. Menaul is a unique college preparatory school with a beautiful campus and dedicated staff. Because of its boarding program there are students from over 20 countries and due to generous donations, the school offers substantial financial aid bringing in students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. Menaul's “no cut” sports program and PE classes are another big plus. It gets kids in shape and is a great way for them to build lasting friendships. Finally, their management through CoVid was superior! They were open and in person (with an online option) nearly the entire time by working hard to keep everyone safe and finding reasonable solutions to requirements such as classroom density. If you are looking for a school that provides solid college-prep academics with a wide lens on the world in a safe and caring environment, then this is the right school for your family.... Parent: We were looking for a school that was designed differently, with a focus on all things "pro-student" as well as a strong sense of community. Bosque School has checked ALL of these boxes and more! Our son absolutely loves the atmosphere and "Staffulty". He is challenged daily with his classes, but not overwhelmed. His academic focus has experienced a positive 180 degree shift from where he was previously. The daily environment includes progressive education approaches and a focus on developing critical thinking. The overall diversity, smaller student body and beautiful open campus has given him new-found peace of mind and confidence vs. the overcrowded, "tough" public school settings he had previously been in. Alum: St. Pius X prepared me well, not only for a Ivy League degree, but for life. On top of the academic preparation, a wide breadth of cocurricular classes allowed for exploration into different passions- some of which I still hold, such as film photography and weight lifting. Athletically, the coaches and teammates I was blessed to compete with all touched my heart, many of whom I still keep in touch with. Aside from the great teachers, courses offered, and stellar athletic teams, the diversity of the students and emphasis on living out the Catholic faith taught me to always love your neighbor. I would argue that this aspect is what makes St. Pius X so special. I would always recommend St. Pius for students and parents looking to have a well rounded, wholistic high school experience. Parent: My child has been enrolled at this school since K5 and is now a 6th grader. 7 years and I would never enroll her in another school. It was such a blessing when we found this school, as a Christian I was struggling with the thought of putting my child in public school. I attended public school as a child and know first hand the messages and behavior that are promoted by not only peers but school staff and administration also. Having a godly support system for our child other than family is so important to my wife and I, and a child spends over 1/3 of the day at school so this was a no-brainer for us. I know each of the staff personally and they are all great educators with two things in mind... the spiritual and academic advancement of the children under their care. Senior: Oak Grove Classical Academy has provided a very safe environment for learning. On top of that, it has also greatly encouraged understanding of rhetoric and literature. The rhetoric especially has helped me to develop into a much stronger and much more persuasive speaker. I wish there were more options for electives, but the school is growing, so I expect there to be more options in the future. I have always appreciated Oak Grove's policy to dive deeper rather than broader. Diving deeper allows for greater discovery and richer discussion. The materials covered are always profoundly thought provoking. Senior: Sandia View Academy is located in the small town of Corrales, New Mexico. Compared to other private schools, our school population is quite small (consisting of a total of around 40 students). Despite our small student body, our teaches are able to connect with students at a much deeper and one-on-one level. SVA is a private Christian school, so our curriculum not only focuses on college preparation but character development and creating Christ-focused leaders who can make an impact in the world. Our school also offers several different electives and sports. We have an active basketball program that goes to tournament once a year and participates in games at a connected Adventist college in Keene, Texas (Southwestern Adventist University). Our music program is very active as well, consisting of a choir that visits local churches. Alum: As an alumni, I can say from my experience that Manzano Day school is interactive, caring, and responsible. The one thing I do not remember about Manzano is being challenged. Maybe that is because I have a knack for math, but I wasn't challenged. In fact, looking at my brother's 1rst grade homework, he seems to have more homework than I got in 5th grade. COVID-19 was, based on what I have seen, a little bump on the road for Manzano. My brother talks about kids touching each other, no wearing masks and even breaking bones. He also says that some teachers pull their masks down in lessons. AGAIN, this is not my story. My experience consisted of feeling safe, secure, and in a friendly atmosphere. I am simply trusting my brother on this topic because I am not in the class with him. A quick note: this is NOT the school for you if you like amazing lunches. Parent: My children had previously been to both APS and another Christian school in town. I found Legacy Academy when they were in high school and they recently graduated from there. I can't say enough positive things about it. The student-led chapel services are amazing. The kids are the ushers, the announcers, and the worship leaders. It's beautiful. The culture at this school is unlike anything I've seen elsewhere. The teachers and admin are excellent and care for and about the individual students. It has the small school community feel but offers a variety of music and athletics. They have fun events for the kids outside of academics as well. My children had a wonderful experience there and literally thanked me for changing their school and sending them there.
