Alum: I've spent all of my formative years at Al-Huda School, and it is one of my most memorable experience by far. The school is a welcoming facility where they encourage all of the students to abide by the Quran and the Sunnah, which is exemplified by the excellent role models in the teachers, faculty, and staff. The smaller teacher to student ratio is ideal for learning and quality of attention provided to each students. In terms of education, I definitely never felt like the students fell behind, especially in high school. Although the offerings of secular courses are slightly more limited than other schools in the area, I formed a strong understanding of the core courses that matter most when applying to college (AP Biology, AP Calc AB, AP Government, AP Language). Parent: DeMatha is an amazing multicultural institution that stimulates boys academically and socially. It creates gentlemen and scholars, because the employees are great role models. During the 2021-22 academic year, I watched DeMatha students, faculty, and staff embrace and encourage my little introvert, to come out of his shell. Amazingly, the learning environment empassioned him to ask for academic support, when needed. Before DeMatha, he experienced little to no cultural diversity. Now, he is eager to meet with teachers and classmates before, during, and school. In addition, he is in position to build positive cultural bonds with that will last forever. Third, he found a second family as a member of the athletic program. Forth, he is enthusiastic about classes like Band, World of War, Photography, Sports Medicine, etc. Next, he loves the variety of food offered at lunch and I like the prices. Parent: This is a great little school. While they do lack in afterschool programs and sports, they do partner with a larger Christian school in the area that is nationally ranked in various sports. I love the fact that my student can participate in high level sports, yet be in a classroom with a 5:1 student to teacher ratio. Best of both worlds! I highly recommend this school.... Parent: We enrolled our son for his junior year in the fall of 2020. We made the decision because the online learning offered by our public school did not work for our son. Fusion staff met with us to determine the appropriate classes to take and even offered and conducted a 'trial' session so our son could get a feel for how it would work. Even though a lot of the year was conducted virtually due to COVID it was still a great experience. One-on-one online classes are very different than one teach and 25-30 students. 5 out of 6 of my son's teachers took the time to really get to know him, understand how he learns and what makes him tick. The teachers are able to connect with students at Fusion in a way that just is not possible in larger environments. Works Here: I've been teaching in New Hope Academy for 30 years and am still impressed with the level of support and love of the administration and staff. The students also are generally enthusiastic and interested in learning, due to the investment of the teachers. All of our children went to this school and now the grandchildren. Freshman: 2021-2022 was my first year as a high schooler and I would say Elizabeth Seton High school made the transition better than I expected! I first learned about the school through a friend's older sibling. I toured the school for the first time. My first impression of the school was great and very welcoming! A few of the then seniors talked to me about the school itself and I almost instantly loved the woman-empowered environment around the school. The idea of an all-girl school at first did not thrill me but now I can definitely say it was a great decision! The school offers many inclusive clubs and sports. I joined the soccer team before the school year began and met amazing people. Even if soccer isn't your thing, they also offer basketball, swimming, and many other sports. It's not all sports based though! There is also a robotics club, book club, equestrian club, BSU, theater and so much more. Senior: I enjoy all the preparations and encouragement for your future. I love how the teachers check up commonly on you to see how you are doing mentally, and reach out incase help is needed. I love how we can involve the word of God to each subject. Although I am not a fan of the schools food, but I love how careful they are if you have allergies or not. I love how much parents get involved with teachers and students, staying prepared of upcoming events. I enjoy how the students and teachers are able to connect, and share different ideas. I like how they send multiple emails of how you’re doing academically for the week. I find it very helpful to see where I am at and need to study or what area I need to work on. I love the volunteer opportunities they give to the students. I am not a huge fan of the uniform, but love when they are open to ideas from students for spirit week, or field trips. Parent: I was nervous about sending our daughter to Saint Francis after we had some bad experiences with daycares. But it has been better than I could have ever hoped. She loves the pre-k 3 class, and I can tell that she is really loved by her teachers. The staff sing to her every morning when she arrives. She is excited, engaged, happy, learning, and growing in many wonderful ways. After a week at SFIS she decided she wants to sing our mealtime prayer every day. I love getting a daily report on her behavior and the lessons learned. Her teacher is easy to communicate with by text or email. Parent: From a parents perspective who has 2 kids go, it’s the best, this why: Communication: the staff is excellent! They send multiple emails on what to expect, have a parents portal for you to check there also, and a parents group me to communicate with other parents Academics: the kids are learning well past there expected grade level! They receive a lot of homework daily and for summertime! It’s expected the parents be active in kids education. Staff: very courteous and respectful! They have multiple parent-staff meetings throughout the year to address concerns. Cost: if you want quality, it’s not cheap, but this school is the most bang for your buck! Everyone can’t afford private school and I understand, but don’t complain about the cost (about $14,000 total per child) when it’s spelled out in brochures, meetings with staff, and application process. Parent: The Christ-centered, biblical-based homeschool education option during this pandemic is DEFINITELY a blessing! The financial obligation is reasonable for the private schools in this area. A variety of subjects and levels available for both of my sons in Middle school and High School. Good selection of electives for varying interests. The synch and asynchronous class options are GREAT for travel, appointments and illnesses. You can set and modify class schedules as family needs warrant. We can use our family activities and vacations as credit towards class credit hours. The staff is so loving, patient and kind. The teachers are very personable and encouraging.
