Their balance of different curriculums through different teachers while still feeling unified is amazing, plus the freedoms that are granted through the different options you have to choose from are great. Parent: I can't believe the incredible transformation my daughter has made in her first year at Kent Denver. Her 6th grade experience continued her positive academic trajectory, in tandem with developing communication and social-emotional skills. Alum: Was a solid college preparatory experience. VERY dominantly white, limited resources for lgbtq+ peoples; not accepting of trans identities. Solid resources for applying for colleges, counsellors were good at what they do. Teachers were mostly good with some bad apples mixed in to avoid (ask an upperclassman or alumni). Food was good when I first started but got cheaper and worse over time; they are very willing to flake out on that end. VERY high variety of clubs, whatever you want to do they most likely have it, though it's hard to get involved in the larger ones, such as robotics or theater due to large volume of students. Obviously very religious, theology classes are required and integrated into the main curriculum. Occasional mass attendance required. Bear these in mind before applying. Not for everyone, but wealthy white individuals will likely have a smooth experience. Be wary of it's general low diversity. If you care mostly about college prep, very solid pick.... Senior: I really enjoyed my time at Mullen! Overall, I think mullen is a great school. There is a loving community of peers and teachers. Mullen also is extremely helpful with the college process and made it much less stressful. I think schools can always improve and one of the only things I wish Mullen did different was offer more elective classes like fashion design or American Sign Language. Mullen is coming out with more elective options for next school year however I just never got to experience that. Parent: We moved to Denver 8 years ago to enroll our oldest son in Kindergarten at Denver Waldorf. What drew me to Waldorf was the experiential learning and a ton of outdoor activities offered. Now that my three sons, ages 13, 11 and 9 are all enrolled, my favorite part of the school is the community. We all came to Waldorf because we wanted something better for our children than what was offered elsewhere. We are told by neighbors and strangers how well-spoken our boys are. I don’t think we can attribute all of this to ‘nature’, ‘nurture’ is something they are receiving at home AND at school. They are part of a movement that is desperately needed now more than ever. The teachers are kind and thoughtful, and they really get to know each child. In their grade school they typically have the same teacher for at least 4 years. Sophomore: DJDSis the most amazing school, home, family, and community. Going to this school has allowed me to flourish in ways that could never be replicated anywhere else. Secularly, the teachers are so invested in my learning and will always find a time to meet with me to go over stuff and genuinely want me to succeed. In regards to the Judaic program, It has allowed me to discover God and spirituality, without ever telling me what I should believe. The classesmerely push you to challenge your own beliefs and think deeply about the subject so every student can benifit.Most importantly, DJDS has given me my second family I can walk down the hallway everyday and be surrounded by people I can count on. DJDS transformed me from a timid 6th grader who was nervous to ask a teacher to fix my grade. Senior: I've been a student at Mile High my entire life. It is a small Christian school so it's not always able to offer the resources and clubs that other schools might have. I would love to see more funding go to arts, clubs, electives, and staffing as opposed to athletics. Junior: Valor Christian High School is a private school. Valor is a smaller school, with the average class size of approximately 250-300 students. Valor has a very strong music, drama, dance and arts programs within its conservatory. Valor also offers a strong Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) and college preparatory classes. Unlike local high schools, Valor does not allow freshman to take AP classes unless you have an exception (e.g., math or language placement at the AP level). Growing up, my husband and I both attended a Christian School and knew Belleview could positively impact our kids, both academically and spiritually. We found Belleview and enrolled the kids immediately. By April of that same school year, the results of the Stanford Achievement Test indicated that my daughter had reached a near 7th grade reading comprehension level. The teachers here make all the difference. I have complete confidence in the administration and school board as they look to Christ to lead them in leading the school. Works Here: This is a school that really cares about each and everyone of its students. The teachers sit down and talk with students on both the good and bad days. Senior: I absolutely loved Lutheran High School! I have been blessed to go there for the past four years, and every day I am grateful that I decided to attend this school. I wanted a smaller school with a wonderful community, and Lutheran has just that. The teachers are absolutely incredible and I was able to grow a genuine relationship with them.
