Alum: I attended Aquinas from first through twelfth grade and am so grateful for the intellectual and spiritual formation I received at the school. The value of Aquinas academics was particularly evident to me after I graduated and attended a top-20 university, where I felt incredibly prepared for the challenging coursework, particularly essay writing. The size of the school means faculty and staff get to know students on an individual basis and allows students to try a range of extracurriculars rather than pigeonhole themselves into one category. Additionally, the spiritual and character formation offered at the school is top notch. For example, Mass is offered at the school daily and opportunities for confession regularly.... Parent: Moving from TX to PA, our biggest concern was finding a good high school for our son. After visiting multiple schools in the area, we applied to OLSH and are so glad we did. Our son is doing very well there, his academic performance is much better than in public school, where he commented on the continuous disruptions and lack of order in the classroom. We like that the school shares the Christian values we want for our son, without being overbearing. Everyone we've dealt with has been very supportive and helpful. The academic course load challenges without being a grind. The school has that "Ivy-league" look to it, attractive tree-shaded grounds situated at the top of a hill, a fantastic chapel, inviting library. OLSH seems to be a great springboard to a quality university. Senior: I would describe my overall experience at Nazareth Prep to be difficult at times. This is not mostly on the part of the school but, more so on graduating during the peak of Covid-19. Most schools during this time weren't prepared for it, and most schools including my own spent most of our freshman year online. This made learning for me difficult due to not being as connected with my teachers, as well as decreasing my attention span. Parent: Having a background in education, I was very dedicated to touring/researching as many schools (private & public) as I could to make sure my children were in the best academic atmosphere. Without a doubt, Alpha School offers the best balance of rigorous academic experience while maintaining a strong focus on developing moral and kind individuals. The administration is very hands-on which encourages stronger bonds between students and adults at the school. This is the only school that offered an actual stand-alone STEM curriculum, instead of tacking it on to science class. Another selling point was that it is independent of the arch dioceses, so it is not threatened by regrouping and closures. I also like that my children are exposed to other children from around the city, not just nearby neighborhoods. Families travel from Fox Chapel, Butler, and Moon to have their students attend Alpha, and after my first tour there, it’s obvious why. It’s the best kept secret in the North Hills!... Parent: I have three children who have all attended The Glen Montessori since birth. My family has loved every step along the way. The teachers at The Glen Montessori are outstanding. All of the head teachers have taught at The Glen Montessori for over ten years. This shows the teachers dedication to Montessori and overall milieu of the school. Parent: A wonderful place to send children to not only excel in academics, but to excel in Faith, as a child of God! St. James School has taught my children to love and honor God, all of God's children as well as themselves. The students of all ages respect and love every peer equally. I love how the older students have younger "buddies" to mentor throughout the year. Each of my children have felt accepted and welcome from day one!
