Alum: So I only went to MVS for 2 years because I moved from Arizona to Ohio. This was my first time going to a private school and I was nervous being a new student. However, on my first day their were many students that came up to me and welcomed me and even showed me my classes. A lot was different than a public school. Their were advisories, lunches were longer, I got out of school later, and it was in such a secluded neighborhood. A couple of the best parts of MVS was that I made a bunch of international friends through the school and still we keep in contact, I was able to have such an awesome advisor, teachers that encouraged me through my classes and supported me, having a college counselor help me throughout the college process and even able to talk to my counselor when I was suffering with homesickness. The worst parts of MVS in my opinion is just that I had no time to rest. I felt very stressed and all over the place most days. Overall I would say that a change for MVS is diversity... Alum: My overall experience at Chaminade Julienne was a positive one! I was a pillar in the performing arts department, thanks to the staff who made me feel comfortable enough to do so. The best parts of attending Chaminade Julienne are its inclusivity and diversity. No one is shunned from being themselves. The worst parts of Chaminade don't come from Chaminade itself but from the cracks in the walls that let the outside world in. Due to the majority of the school being Caucasian, poc like myself tend to face microaggressions from time to time. No one at Chaminade Julienne has ever been consciously bigoted towards me. Senior: My journey at Alter began freshmen year. I was just a shy kid whose friends from grade school all went separate ways. Senior: Archbishop Carroll High school is a private Catholic school in Dayton, Ohio that prides itself on 99% of graduating seniors attending college after high school. This school is definitely for academics and college preparation. Carroll has many college AP classes and also has a college - share where you can take college classes at local colleges while in high school. It is not too competitive in athletics, except for Track, Cross Country, and Soccer. I had exceptional teachers that are always willing to tutor and stay after school to help with anything. When I was out sick, teachers made sure that all work was made up to not affect any grades negatively. I was also very well prepared for AP exams and even the ACT my junior year. Parent: Wehave had one child that has graduated from Spring Valley Academy, and one who will graduate this year. Our first son started at Spring Valley his senior year, and his only regret was that he wasn’t there sooner. He loved it! Had so many great opportunities for learning local and abroad. Made many great Christian friends and was able to take college level classes, which gave him a head start in his engineering degree. He enjoyed the sports and music programs Spring Valley offered. Our second son has been at Spring Valley Academy for what will be five years. He has taken vantage of all the amazing opportunities that Spring Valley has to offer, especially the band and choir trips that go throughout the nation performing. Senior: Christian Fellowship School is a small private school in Marshall County, Kentucky full of God-loving students and staff. The school holds around 300 students from pre-K to 12th grade. It consists of praise and worship to God and close, lifelong friends. The staff is very encouraging, friendly, and easy to create a special bond with. The chapel is held every Tuesday which includes a full service for everyone to just worship and sing to God. The school holds so many fun events every year such as the Fall Festival with games and prizes, Eagle Fest with competitive water games in teams, a competitive Fall party scavenger hunt with a prize for the winner, and of course, random class field trips to Mcdonalds every once in a while. I am an athlete in three sports with all of my friends because of how small the school is. The bond I have with my friends is created by all of us doing sports together. Parent: Legacy has been the greatest blessing to our family! My greatest prayer when my kids started at Legacy was that my kids would be well cared for. My prayer has been answered abundantly! We have kids that are in Jr. High and their only complaint is that they didn't start at the school when they were in 1st grade! My son had a hard time adjusting to school after coming from homeschool. The teachers were AMAZING! They worked with him, encouraged him, and pushed him to do more than he thought he could. He is doing SO well now! It has been life transforming! One day at drop off, I saw my son's math teacher in the hall. She came up and gave me the biggest hug (this was before covid😊) and told me she was praying for me. I appreciate that the administrators, staff, and teachers don't claim to be perfect, but challenge us all to work together, to prefer others to talk through things instead of walking away in anger. Senior: I'm going to be a senior in the fall and I've been going here since I was in Pre-K. This school is a great place to grow. The teachers and student leaders helped me to become my best self. Though it has its downfalls, I'm glad this is the school I when to. It's diverse, accepting, and has generally kind students and teachers. Parent: Our son started at Dayton Christian 4 years ago and we're thrilled with our experience in pre-K-2nd grade, especially during COVID. The school administration saw the urgency to return children to the classroom and normalcy as soon as possible. Our son is far beyond where his peers in public school are education-wise. The teachers' love for our children is apparent as well. In return, the school began a mission to create competitive compensation for the teachers that will help with retention and pay them their true worth. The addition of the gym and a renovation to create a new student life space for performance art, chapel, etc., shows the desire for long-term school improvements. The school shows responsibility in their approach for large capital projects by ensuring they have funding up front with multiple quotes for projects thus being good stewards of our money. Junior: I love being at Temple Christian School. It has very good academics and very nice and helpful teachers. It's a nice environment and smaller classes which gives more time for teachers to fully explain things to students. I have been going to TCS since kindergarten and have never wanted to go anywhere else for school. Parent: GDS has been a phenomenal school for our daughter. We have a 6 year old in Kindergarten who struggles with ADHD. Her teachers and Admin have adapted to her learning style and helped her grow immensely this year. Our favorite part of the school is the multiple excursions they take every month to expose the kids to culture and the world! We are also extremely thankful for patient teachers that communicate with us frequently on our daughter’s progress. One awesome perk for us on top of the world class education is that our child can attend her therapy sessions (speech, OT, and behavior) while in school. Parent: My sons have both attended St. Helen school. The administration and teachers are both caring and committed to the students. The class size allows for students to ask questions and received extra help when needed. The restorative discipline approach has made a huge difference in the environment of the school. My sons were very well prepared for the experience at Carroll High School and accredit the teachers at St. Helen to making sure they were ready for the rigors of the classes, many Advanced Placement.
