Freshman: Although, due to the pandemic, I will not be completing my first year at Asheville School, my time there has been very meaningful and worthwhile. I think the way my school handled switching to online courses, proves a lot for my school. Our school it out February 28 for spring break, we did not know we wouldn’t be returning. However, March 7 we found out spring break would be extended for one week and a list of new procedures were promptly sent out. moreover, March 13 school was canceled indefinitely. However, they quickly transitioned into a new online world. All the teachers were quick to establish resources through our school website, organize times for discussion, and give access to live meetings at schedule times each day during the week. From that, we were able to continue to learn on an amazing level despite the changes. My school took on the challenge with gusto. Alum: I graduated from Christ School in 2021. Christ School was an excellent place for me to grow as a student, athlete, and person. The academics are challenging, but the faculty will do whatever it takes in order to help you succeed. The athletics department is superb, and there is are a wide variety of sports/activities available. There is also something always happening on campus for students to join in, whether it be dorm wars or a residential life event. There are also a variety of off campus trips/activities that are most often provided at no extra cost. Parent: Our child is dyslexic. The Key School at Carolina Day changed our child’s life forever. The teachers, the tailored instruction, and pace of learning was everything our child desperately needed. She realized there are brilliant, dyslexic minds and she was surrounded by many other dyslexic children, just like herself. She wasn’t alone anymore. The teachers equipped my child with the tools she needed for academic success, but also social and emotional success. The Key School’s kinesthetic and auditory/visual learning techiniques coupled with their intentionally small class sizes and warm, nurturing environment was the exact prescription my child needed to heal, learn and grow. I’ve had multiple parents tell me recently that my child seems so “confident”. Seeing the day to day changes in my child’s growth in addition to hearing other’s observations confirm that sending her to the Key School was the best school-related decision I’ve ever made.... Parent: I have two children at ACA. It is not a perfect school filled with perfect people, nor does it claim to be. That's actually what we love about it. They are willing to "run to the mess" as the Head of School often says. They have equipped and caring teacher as well as strong extra-curricular programs. Senior: I liked the teachers, subjects, and administration at Odyssey Community School. They could definitely create more diversity within clubs and sports and there are a few negatives with this school. Some include the professionalism within some administration and the college readiness teacher. But overall it is a great school that offers so many opportunities. Senior: My experience at Mount Pisgah Academy extends past my 4 years at the high school, it actually expands all the way to 12 years of being on this campus! I went to the K-8 school that is within 100 feet of the Academy's campus. I've always enjoyed MPA, due to the high school spirit, sports programs, regulated intramural programs, the academic gains, and the safety the school brings throughout the entire campus. The school is always ready for anything and has a strong strive to help kids and young adults venture through the beginning of their life. I believe that this high school is one of the absolute best in the world, no doubt, but I do believe that there are some things that can be improved. The first one may not be obvious, but it is the College Readiness. The College Readiness is absolutely fantastic if you are going to Adventist College, but if other options excite you, then a lot of the work will be on your own shoulders. Parent: Our family loves Rainbow! Our son has been in both Preschool classes and is now in Kindergarten. He also participates in the before school, after school, and summer camp programs. The teachers and administration are EXCELLENT. They really care about the kids, but they also care about the parents as well. Everything is thoughtfully planned and communicated. Parent: I highly recommend Emmanuel Lutheran School in West Asheville, North Carolina. All of the teachers are so kind to each child, that is encouraging each to their strengths. The school is true to the child's education, and classes are not a blend. All three of my kids have thrived under the direction of teachers who have taught at Emmanuel Lutheran School for many years. My children LOVE to attend and learn. I am convinced that this school has set a solid foundation for their learning and that they have developed a true love for learning. The school offers advanced academics, arts, and sports, all of which my children love participating in and have obtained an appreciation for each. Parent: Both my son and daughter attended French Broad River Academy for all three years of middle school. We could not have been happier with our experience at both campuses. The academic facets of the school are unparallel and both of our children were extremely well prepared for high school. What truly sets French Broad apart from other middle school programs is their focus on development of high integrity teenagers through their outdoor and service programs. There is no other school like it! Through weekly outdoor activities including hiking, canoeing, rock climbing and skiing and service projects in the beautiful blue ridge mountains, our children learned new skills and and overcame various challenges that helped them build determination, confidence and leadership skills for life.
