Parent: Our daughter has attended KCD since kindergarten and we have had a wonderful experience. The school does a great job pairing the students with teachers that will help them succeed in elementary school. Their classrooms and programming was wonderful all the through to high school where our daughter is currently. We have been very involved, like so many other parents that we have moved through the years with. The school offers the most sports opportunities, clubs and art options as any school in the area. The school has a very diverse student and teacher population, which has been wonderful. As parents, we have helped with coaching, girl scouts and volunteered in many ways. We are excited for anyone to come visit the school and get a first hand look at how the school will benefit prospective students and families. They offer some options for tuition as well if needed. Senior: Overall, I look at my time at Collegiate with immense fondness. I've had great teachers, friends, and classes. As with any achiever-culture private school, the atmosphere can get pretty stressful and competitive. The students are incredibly driven, and sometimes, that can cause a somewhat toxic obsession with grades and rank. Alum: My experience at Francis Parker was an amazing time in my life. I attended Francis Parker High School (formerly named St. Francis High School at that time) and graduated in 1999. The personal responsibility that I learned from attending Francis Parker High School provided me with invaluable tools that have helped me throughout my life. The education I received was excellent and fully prepared me for college. I played soccer, tennis, and was on the crew team for Francis Parker and loved the athletic opportunities. The art education I received was second to none. After graduating, I attended Indiana University and was fully prepared for the transition from a smaller school to a large school thanks to Francis Parker. I then attended Wake Forest School of Law and am now a corporate attorney in Louisville. Senior: Going to Sacred Heart Academy was by far the best decision I could've made. I have found my best friends, built up my confidence in the classroom, made connections with teachers and administrators, pushed myself on the sports fields (and have won 2 state championships!), built an incredible network and learned countless leadership skills through my involvement with the Jean Frazier Leadership Institute, and have mastered teamwork and collaboration skills with my leadership roles on Student Council and Ambassadors. There is nothing like the sisterhood at Sacred Heart. The smiles and hellos you get in the hallway are genuine and the time spent in TEAM laughing with your best friends while doing your work are memories I'll never forget. Parent: Highlands Latin School is a very humble and scholastic environment. Based on traditional education models, children get a more than solid foundation of math, reading, music enriched with latin/greek/classical literature. While the bible is used as a basis, the children are from many different families, including hindu and muslim traditions. The study habits and expectations are unparalleled. Children are held to a very high expectation not only academically but also in their interpersonal relationships. They respect not only their teachers but each other. They also promote a traditional environment without social media, texting,etc. The only negatives is that the school is known less for athletics, and students do excel, but in organizations outside of the school. We value that students learn cursive writing, and the use of technology is limited to the essentials. Parent: We have had children at St. Aloysius for five years and it was the best decision we could have made for their education, personal development and well-being. The faculty and staff are not only nurturing but are also innovative and committed to their own continuing education. It's a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence committed to maintaining that status and it's very conveniently located in Pewee Valley, just 3.5 miles from the Gene Snyder. My daughters have personally been involved in school sports, art club, choir, Girl Scouts, STEM activities and Summer Camp. Also, there is a weekly Girls Group for 4th and 5th grade girls hosted by the school counselor to address self-esteem, anti-bullying and personal issues which are critical at that age.
