Junior: Collegiate has some issues. I’ll start it by talking about the positives, Collegiate has amazing teachers who are all focused on helping you succeed and genuinely want the best for their students. The level of teaching is unmatched and really prepares you for college academics wise. And I think that they do a really good job of trying to do whatever they can to improve the lives of their students. However it has some issues, no school is going to be perfect. If you are new to Collegiate 9/10 times your friends are going to be people who are new to Collegiate too since most students who go there already aren’t too keen on getting close to the new kids. They might talk to you sometimes but it’s never anything more than surface level conversations. Another thing is a lack of good extracurriculares, I understand it’s a smaller school but it still feels bland. Parent: I can't say enough good things about Bishop Seabury Academy. It's a kind, supportive place where my kids were "seen" every day. In Seabury middle and high school they made lasting friendships, teachers were mentors, and my kids tried multiple activities because of the no-cut policy. Plus, Seabury cares about the whole child: my kids learned time and stress management, social skills, ethics, and how to be an active member of a community--in other words, good citizenship. Also, I loved being part of the Seabury parent community--so many kind, talented Lawrence residents who truly value education. My kids made life-long friends...but so did I. On the academic side, my kids were always challenged: the faculty is outstanding. Plus, we got detailed, step-by-step college counselling, starting junior year. Senior: Aquinas has been my home for the past four years and I would not trade those years for anything. This school has given me a family that I will be a part of for the rest of my life. It has stellar academics and a very faith-filled community. There are many clubs, groups, and teams to be a part of. Everyone at this school is somehow involved in extracurricular activities. School spirit at STA is always in the air. From the pep assemblies to the football games, every student cheers on the saints. The teachers are some of the kindest, most supportive people I have ever met. I have not encountered a single teacher that I did not like or did not enjoy in their class. Alum: My Experience at St. James Academy was one of, if not the best experience of my life to date. From they're outlook on inclusion, to it's beautiful campus and facilities, I really had finally found everything I was looking for in a High School Experience, and I owe this to Saint James Academy. Freshman: The small environment creates an opportunity for students to form better relationships with the majority of their classmates. Teachers are very friendly and you can have more one-on-one instruction time. Teachers care more about your understanding of a topic rather than just learning the material to do well on a test. Senior: Throughout my time at Bishop Miege I have been apart of something bigger than just a high school. Most high schools seem intimidating when you walk in, but at Bishop Miege the second you walk in you are greeted by and amazing group of staff that always have smiles on their faces. As for the student population, it has always felt like a family. The community that surrounds Miege as a whole is a family. When you walk around the school and see the interactions between others you can tell that there is genuine connection between everyone in the school. As for the school academically, there are so many opportunities for you to grow as a scholar. There is a variety of clubs, or you can start your own, and there are many classes you can take based on your learning level. Senior: Coming to Maranatha from a public school made a huge difference in my education. I am so glad I have had the privilege of learning from a Christian education. Most of the teachers and staff are kind and helpful and are always open to answering your questions. Some people in leadership need to be replaced and currently, Maranatha is in the process of doing that. Sports programs can definitely become better, but being on a team with the MCA community is great. I wish Maranatha had a counselor so the students could come talk to him/her about personal problems instead of burying the teachers with their problems. Alum: I really appreciated their ways of educated students on how it is important to not take for granted this education we are receiving. The way they focus on the Catholic religion is also very important for everyone in that school. This school provides students with numerous chances to expand their faith and grow closer to God. There are countless areas of study available upon certain interest, as well as in extracurricular means. The atmosphere and attitude that fills the walls of the building uplift students and encourage them to learn. The one problem that lies within many individuals at this school is their unwavering opinions. Alum: I loved every single minute that I spent at Heritage. The teachers were deeply invested into the students, and wanted them to succeed in their lives, not just getting them to pass their classes. The small class sizes were very nice, for I knew every single person in high school and I was able to develope very deep friendships with both my peers and teachers. The teachers were also willing to take time to meet with students, if the students wanted to talk about anything at all, from family troubles to questions about ethics and homework. The food from the cafeteria was the best! Almost everyday there was a dessert option, and there was always some sort of fruit or vegetable on the side. Chili and cinnamon roll days were my favorite. The classes that I took challenged me to apply myself and to put forth effort if I wanted to achieve the A. All in all there is plenty for any student to do, both in and out of the classroom.... Senior: I have been at Veritas Christian School since my freshman year. My overall experience has been incredible because the goal of Veritas is to educate the whole student with the whole truth of Christ. The teachers at Veritas care about every individual student and their life. When my mom was diagnosed with cancer, I was immediately shown the love of every teacher even if I had never had a class with them before. I was overwhelmed with the amount of love my family received and how many families truly cared. Senior: I have been attending the St. Mary's Colgan Catholic Schools system since I was three years old. Overall, the education quality at this school is very high. Most students graduate with success and skills that allow them to excel in their careers and futures. My only complaint with the system is that the emphasis on Catholicism is nice, but sometimes it is too much. We are required to go to mass three times a day, with the expectation to attend an additional day on Sundays. We are also required to take religion classes, and sometimes it just feels as if you are being forced to be Catholic. It causes many students to fall away from the faith. I think a way this could be fixed is if it wasn't required, but encouraged to take these classes and attend church. Despite this problem, I do really appreciate the education that I have received. Works Here: Life PrepAratory Academy can be a great place to study! As with most things in life, you get more when you put more of yourself into it. I have seen so many students come here, apply themselves and go on to thrive in colleges and careers. Senior: Bishop Carroll holds so many memories for me. There were a few teachers there that I could genuinely go to if I needed help. However, some teachers treated us like we were robots. The teachers did not seem to care how much they were stressing us out, whether it was giving us tough tests or unruly amounts of homework. They gave the excuse, "Well it's a private school what did you expect". Being in a private school shouldn't mean I have to stay up till 2 a.m. doing homework because I had work till 9. Having said all that, the atmosphere at Carroll is amazing. Everyone gets along for the most part and I have made some really great friendships there. The support from students and staff when it comes to sports is amazing as well. The hype is really there. I will miss Carroll and cannot believe that my 4 years are almost up. Go Eagles!...
