Freshman: It is an amazing experience to go to Overlake! Coming in as a new student, it was amazing how inclusive the students and faculty are. The teachers hold office hours and really want you to succeed. They even write extensive recommendations for outside school projects and applications. The teachers are honestly amazing and the coursework is challenging. For more advanced student they offer Honors and AP classes and the teachers will always push you regardless. The student body is amazing and since the campus is large you meet people from multiple different grades. Parent: This school has provided our three children an incredible foundation since preschool. Our children are now in 5th, 3rd and 1st grade and have developed a love for learning in all aspects of the curriculum. The community is incredibly special and the administration and faculty deeply cares for students and it show each & every day. Freshman: Eastside Catholic is a very welcoming school. I found the teachers very helpful, funny and kind. I understood concepts well and I enjoyed every day at school! The course selection is amazing and includes an array of subjects. I like the college readiness classes such as the UWHS classes. I found many classmates who were sweet and accepting of everyone. I liked Health class as it taught us many helpful strategies to tackle addiction, mental health, and improve overall wellbeing. I liked the fact that there were posters in the bathroom and on the walls which gave students information about mental health and how to seek help. I love school assemblies because they are filled with school spirit and fun games. I greatly appreciate the service opportunities given by Eastside Catholic because it really helps me find volunteer activities that I enjoy and love doing. You never know until you get all the details and take a tour what is possible. What do you have to lose? Now our eyes are opened to a new world that fits our family so well! Parent: Our family has been thoroughly impressed with Providence. We have seen our children's confidence and character grow steadily in a wonderful direction as they have progressed at the school from kindergarten on. We currently have three boys at the school, with the oldest being a 7th grader, and I'm blown away by what they know and can explain at their age compared to the education I received in public school (which may not be saying much)! Combining the excellent and rigorous scholastic education with Christian character building is a recipe for success. I'd recommend that anyone interested in Providence assess it against a different rubric. It's not going to provide some big school amenities or feel like a bustling campus. Parent: My daughter is flourishing at Chrysalis. Every class is tailored to meet her needs and engage her curiosity and learning. She is more confident and happier than ever before and really feeling comfortable in her own skin. She owns her intelligence now instead of hiding it to fit in. The academics are incredible. She has been able to study more subjects and take classes at a much higher level than she was able to at public school. I love how the school cares for the overall wellness of each individual student and puts the student first in each situation. The teachers are from all different backgrounds and have amazing stories to share. Parent: Academy Northwest was a fabulous choice for our two daughters. We homeschooled our children but once they reached high school, we really wanted the accredited transcripts for them. ANW's Home Education Extension program allowed us the flexibility we wanted in curriculum selection, afforded us the opportunity to take classes taught by professionally certified teachers, and provided us with that Washington state approved diploma we wanted! Junior: Yellow Wood is a solid choice for students who don't fit the usual mold, whether due to academic advancement, executive functioning difficulties, academic problems, or any combination of the above. I appreciate finally being given more challenging material than the public system can offer in my areas of strength, while also attending classes in an environment that addresses my distaste for needless social interaction. The only gripes I have about Yellow Wood are the lack of extracurricular variety (no NHS chapter, no science/math clubs, etc.) and the food. Parent: The Kineo School is absolutely amazing. My older son has been attending for four years now and we've seen tremendous improvement both socially and academically. Our younger one just started there this year and LOVES it. Kineo has amazingly dedicated teachers who are kind, loving, and passionate about what they do. I love the focus on social emotional learning and hands-on learning. It makes learning so much more fun and great for sparking interest. Parent: This is our family's first year at The Little School and we've had a wonderful experience so far. My son is in third grade and his transition from his old school has been much easier than I expected. The small classes and attentive teachers and staff make the school an inclusive environment to a diverse range of kids. One thing that really sold us on TLS - aside from the curriculum - was the beautiful forested campus. Students learn in nature and have opportunities to build forts, climb into tree houses, and observe native plants and animals. We've found the academics very strong, and taught in ways that engage our son and build a true understanding of math, reading, and science concepts that allow him to build on his knowledge and skills to the best of his ability. Social Emotional Learning is integrated into every aspect of the school and the growth my son has shown in that regard since he started at TLS has impressed my husband and me. Parent: This is the second year that my son has been at JDS and he has grown so much. I appreciate that classes are mixed-ages which gives teachers the flexibility to pair students together with similar levels of understanding in certain topics. Parent: We came to Eastside Christian School (ECS) after an extensive search. We wanted a Christian school that prioritized academic excellence, character, and security. After previously attending another local private school and touring many other area private and public schools, we chose ECS. The staff are warm, professional, and caring. The teachers invest their hearts into their classes. The school does an excellent job of providing an education that is tailored to the individual child and his/her academic gifts, talents, interests, and needs. For students that are excelling in math, they have a Math Movers program that allows a student to do math at a higher grade level. Parent: The best decision we ever made was to move our son to St. Louise! Tuition is tough coming from a school we paid no tuition, but seriously the best money I have ever spent-and only regret is we didn't start there in Kindergarten! From the start the warm friendly welcome was amazing, and a few years later still true. He was in need of some extra attention in reading, which the teachers identified right away- he was just on the edge of the breakthrough to the next level and instead of just saying it's fine he'll get there- they gave him some extra support for a short time and he is soaring! The academics are fabulous! My son even realized quickly how great it felt to have teachers invested in you, and the school community felt like family! We moved him in 4th grade, and he loves it still in 6th! He's not my kid who loves to go to school- he is thriving and LOVES St. Louise! If you are debating, go check it out- you won't regret it! Works Here: BCA is a great place to work at, in my experience. The school had safety for teachers and students and remote learning systems in places and appears to be first school to implement remote learning before the state was placed in lockdown during the CoVID-19 closure. The working environment from my point of view is professional and collaborative. There is not one perfect person or work place in the world for sure. In my experience, this school is a blessing to me, from the admin to the students. The classrooms have low ratio, students are being guided to be globally minded, kind and cooperative citizens. Parent: I wish I had gone to FASPS as a child! There is a lot of love at this school. Bilingual education cannot be beat for its ability to strengthen young brains and open them to diverse cultures and ways of being. The French style of teaching is clear, direct, firm, and kind, just the approach children need. Teachers and specialists push students to a healthy edge, with an instinct for customizing lessons to each individual, rather than assuming kids are learning at the same pace and in the same way. When Covid hit, the school pivoted immediately to distance learning and worked overtime to figure out a plan to re-open safely. There is a daily health screening, schoolwide Covid testing, social distancing, small classes and mask-wearing for all, and I feel confident that children are being taught in a safe and intelligent manner.
