Parent: QLS has been a unique place for my kids to grow academically. We have been at the school since QLS Pre-school. QLS admin and teachers did a stellar job during the pandemic closures by coordinating to reopen via transition to online classes without skipping a beat! A large part of our local community took notice of this as, many schools were closed or only partially open and we felt very proud to be a part of a well functioning school- the Quarry Lane School. Our oldest graduated and is attending an Ivy League school and younger one in middle school. I feel confident that QLS is preparing students to be successful young adults academically, teaching them critical thinking skills and being emotionally resilient. Sophomore: I have been attending Bishop O'Dowd Highschool for two years now, and safe to say I love it. I am involved in the theater department, have run varsity cross country, joined many and started one club, performed in school-wide events, and enjoyed every moment. O'Dowd's academics have been challenging yet engaging. I never find myself struggling in class with the resources available to me, like tutoring and counseling, and you can tell that the teachers truly care about their profession. The community is supportive and the upperclassmen in leadership positions did a great job of welcoming and hyping everyone up for school! Especially during spirit week! My favorite place on campus is the living lab where students like me get to learn about growing and harvesting produce that is later used in the cafeteria for lunches and sustainable activities like eco club. Junior: During freshman year, everything was good, I had teachers helping me out and adjusting to high school, but that was during the "zoom era". When we started to go back in person, it was hard to keep up but I had teachers supporting me. However, I wish that the diversity could change, while this school is known for "acceptance" of either POC or LGBTQ+, the truth is, it mostly is a school for white queers, I honestly feel like the school tries to be "woke" for social issues, but it feels like it was just a "one-time act". Parent: WE love the school. Absolute pleasure to have this school in the heart of fremont. Amazing teachers, amazing enviorements and curriculum which really increases the motivation to come to school everyday. Love the small close knitted community of school where everyone greets and meet and know each other than the traditional school where multiple sections and hoard of students come and rarely anyone know each other. We have been attending school from last two years and cant say anymore about the school. We love Basis , its the school where kid everyday look forward to school. Science technology and math international competition are beyond expectation and kids are not only informed but getting prepared for everything as well which is really a blessing to have. Parent: We have one child who graduated and one child who is still at Carey. If we had to make the choice again on which elementary school to send our children to, we would not hesitate in sending them to Carey again. The entire experience has been positive. The administration and teachers are amazing individuals that really care about the children and are always looking at ways to improve themselves and their teaching methods. The facilities are top notch and the teacher to student ratio allows the teachers to really know each child. The open communication and responsiveness to issues addresses any issues that arise. Academics is not as rigorous as some other schools, but it allows the children to grow in other areas. Community is a huge part of The Carey experience as well. The families of the children are present and invested in their children's lives and are great role models. They are also very fun! Parent: I cannot recommend Stratford at Fremont Blvd enough! My children have been attending this school for the past four years and the experience has been nothing short of amazing. Parent: I currently have one son in preschool and one in kindergarten (he's been there since preschool) at Stratford. Both my kids love going to school, and I am so impressed with how much they've grown academically, socially and otherwise at Stratford. My older son, for example, started this school year a shy boy who was lacking in confidence, and I am amazed by how much he has transformed over the past months-- he proactively raises his hand in class, presents and speaks in front of his classroom happily and without hesitation. He's a different child thanks to the curriculum/programming at Stratford (regular recitations etc), and, even more importantly, the love and care from his teachers. The office staff are wonderful as well-- they have created such a warm and loving environment at school, my kids feel welcomed and wanted from the moment they arrive. Parent: I am the parent of a current sixth grader at Julia Morgan and our family feels so fortunate that our daughter goes to this INCREDIBLE school. She comes home every day excited to share what she is working on, and the curriculum is intentional, challenging and innovative. The teachers are excited and think outside the box, which translates to deep engagement by the kids. In the 7 months since our daughter started at JMSG, she wrote a 9,000 word novel, learned about jazz history and can now recognize by ear the music of 20 influential jazz musicians, designed and built a model paper roller coaster, personally met and chatted with published female authors, created a business concept and designed a prototype product. Oh, and she performed the National Anthem at a Warriors Game with the school chorus!!! She has met lovely friends, and the entire grade seems friendly, kind and supportive. Middle School Student: Academics: Math thorough, gets very difficult in middle school. Science is excellent but again gets hard in middle school. Literature/ grammar are extremely good. Students very well educated in these two- level is higher than most schools. Geography/ social studies is well taught. Too much homework and tests to the point where the child doesn't have time for anything else. Too much work make sure it is right for your child, otherwise they might get too strict. Activities: apart from middle school they don't care much about those. they have excellent after care though. Diversity is made up of Indians and Chinese. College readiness very high, only if applying for academics. No group projects, social skills sometimes lack for difficult people. Safety: amazing but bullying isn't properly taken care of. Parent: We moved our child to Kids Connection from a high performing magnet school in San Mateo at the beginning of the 2020 school year and have been so grateful for the change. KC was one of the first schools in San Mateo county to receive the in person instructional waiver, and our child was able to safely attend school all last year during a pandemic. She dreaded school before and now she loves going. She is appropriately challenged at school, does not get busy work homework (yes, she gets some but it is effective and appropriate), and she also gets to do art, music, Spanish, and computer class on a weekly basis. The teachers are motivated and class sizes are small, less than 20 children per class. They really get to know your child and the support is far beyond what we ever received in public school. St. Gregs has prepared him for high school he is a smart, kind and talented child. My other child is moving into middle school and she has also grown spiritually and intellectually throughout her schooling.
