The faculty, staff, and administration are dedicated to rigorous academics while still caring deeply for the wellness of each child. I feel like they really know my child and are able to differentiate instruction so that he can truly excel. Junior: I was on the fence about which high school to go to, but I am so happy I chose Assumption because of the kind people here. I have met many friends that I know I will keep in touch with after high school, and my teachers help me to reach my full potential by always encouraging me. I love how much opportunity there is here, both academically and socially. Assumption has tried their best to accommodate to everyone's situation during the pandemic, and I am pleased with how they are handling it. Their foreign exchange programs and travel opportunities are AMAZING! Because of AHS, I have gained a great friend from Argentina via the Argentina exchange program. Alum: I attended Catholic schools in Louisville in Elementary & High School. When I got out of the Navy I went to a Catholic college. I was hired by DeSales as a Biology & Psychology teacher/Soccer & Tennis Coach. I worked there for 37 years. I was made an Honorary Alumnus of DeSales in 2008! It was one of the best experiences I ever had in my life. DeSales has grown quite a lot since I first walked through the door & I truly believe it is a better school now than it was when I first arrived. Parent: We love CAL! We have 3 kids at CAL, pre-K, Kindergarten, and 3rd grade and they all love it there. The teachers are amazing and the students are kind and respectful. We started our oldest there when she was going into 2nd grade after Covid shut down all the public schools. CAL was at school in-person almost the entire year and our daughter had an amazing first year there. The communication from the school is top notch. They keep parents informed immediately about every single matter that involves students and parents in any way. Junior: I think our educators and staff are some of the best of the best, with a huge emphasis on pushing for Women in STEM through our amazing science and technology courses. We have an exceptional English and Arts department with some of the most amazing teachers in the state. Mercy pushes young girls through 4 years of performance oriented learning which breeds the women of tomorrow. This school provides an amazing education, but also focuses on an experience to prepare these young women for college and the real world to come after their high school days. I think we lack a strong math department, except the most advanced courses of Pre calc and AP Calculus which are taught by one of the most intelligent people I know. Senior: I loved it mostly because of small class sizes allowing me to get the help I needed when I was struggling. Also the school has allotted time before school on Mondays and Tuesdays where the teachers are there early so student that need it can get help or makeup missed work. The faculty and staff are truly amazing and always willing to help, and you can tell they truly love teaching! Also, I love that my grade is only 100 people and I know and talk to each and every one of them. Junior: I recently transferred to Whitefield from another school in the area, and I consider Whitefield to be ten times better. The teachers really take the time to get to know their students, but they also prepare you for college at the same time. I had one teacher whose class was practically a college class. We would take notes for 2 or 3 weeks, and then we would have a test over all the information. At the same time, we would read the class book and have a small quiz over it. Overall, this school is a really great environment for kids of all ages. The smaller class sizes allow students to get to know everyone in their grade better. Parent: LCA is a hidden gem of a school - I wish more people knew about it! I tell everyone how much we love this school. It has provided the solid educational foundation in a secular environment that we were looking for. I appreciate the strong literacy program and individualized math instruction that has allowed my son to rapidly accelerate in his strongest area.
