Senior: I have had access to a very good education during my time at Lake Highland. While I have also faced some challenges in getting the classes I wanted, over all I have benefited from and am grateful for my education here. One thing I wished I had done better was advocate for myself when it came to the classes I really wanted to take. Instead, I deferred to the school councilors recommendations. For all future or potential students interested in Lake Highland, think about what you want to do, where you want to end up in your Senior year. If anyone says you can't or shouldn't take a class that you know you need or want, keep speaking up for yourself. Don't stop till you have exhausted all possible avenues. Junior: Overall the environment is very refreshing compared to a public school, you have the ability to connect and network with people you don't realize are like-minded in the sense of Christianity. The best part of TFA is the learning strategies that are taught in the classroom. The teachers are very inclined to your academics and genuinely care about the well-being. The only issue is the difference in price brackets, coming from a family who isn't fortunate to be able to afford much other than the necessites and education there's a big difference in how we were raised. Knowing the differences in growing up, it's hard to connect with people in similar situations. I wouldn't trade this opportunity I have to go to this school in a heartbeat knowing how hard it was to make the financials work in my family. Freshman: I'm so glad I found this school. There are definitely problems, that comes with the territory, but overall I've had a great experience. Keep in mind as you read that I am a white, straight A student, have accommodations, and in NHS, meaning that I'm not faced with certain problems others do. The student body is very diverse with mainly POC students. I have definitely seen some discrete racism from both staff and students, but as I don't experience this first hand I'm sure I don't see the whole picture. Students throw slurs around without a second thought, with the worst I've seen them get is a verbal warning, if anything. Favoritism is definitely shown to staff kids when it comes to discipline. Most students rather go to public school, but as someone who needs smaller class sizes as well as generally more patient teachers, I enjoy it. There are multiple teachers that are seen as a friend or can be to talked to. I can see people's problems with this school and feel bad, but I enjoy it.... Read 35 reviews

Alum: When i first came to crenshaw academy i didn't like it . Caused it wasn't like the schools i was used to . Big ;have a lot of extraricular activities , and a lot of students. While at crenshaw academy it was the contrary . I didn't have any personal space at all caused it was small, and no after school program. I was sad during my first week at the school, but the students ; teachers and staffs were amazing. There were caring ; had a lot of patience and were also great listener . Because of them i had a great experience at the school and din't even see what the school lacked of duing my time in it . Eventually what i would like to change is the lacked of after school programs. Caused students after school they want to have amuzement , that's the only rhing i think they should change . Parent: This is the safest place for your child, physically and emotionally. Every staff member you come in contact with is so peaceful and happy. Senior: Overall, Bishop Moore Catholic is an excellent high school that provides students with a great education. Its teaching staff is predominantly exceptional, with occasional variability. The pitfalls of Bishop Moore come in its administration’s tendency to be necessarily strict on matters such as dress code, senior privileges, school dances, class selections, and other activities or student choices that should leave students with freedom to express themselves or simply have fun, but often leaves us feeling excessively constricted. While I understand Bishop Moore wishes to uphold Catholic values, there are times when the restrictions placed on us can feel exorbitant. In regards to course selections, students are often left feeling like their choices are enforced on them by their counselor rather than having the freedom to forge their own academic path. Parent: FCA has definitely been a blessing to our family. They do an outstanding job of reinforcing Christian values. It truly is like having a third parent to help guide your child. They also have a school resource officer on campus at all times, which gives me peace of mind in today's climate. Parent: My daughter has been here for 3 years and has grown so much academically, socially, and spiritually. Last year the school installed smart boards and added 60+ laptops. They added choir and music programs, Spanish classes to elementary and middle school. The administrators and teachers care for my daughter like she is their own. I have seen teachers bring things for students out of the kindness of their heart and I love it here. The school also has a devotion for the school every morning. I've walked through the halls to listen to the topics and found them to be very uplifting, even for me! The food is cooked daily and is fresh. I know they are planning to add a gymnasium which should help with improving extracurriculars and clubs. The overall culture of the school is a welcome, loving atmosphere where I know my daughter is safe and cared for. Niche User: I'm very disappointed with some the reviews I see here, but I would like to address the comment below. I've been at Eastland for a bit over six years, and I've NEVER witnessed a teacher being "racist" or "misogynistic." If anything, the teachers here stress the fact that we are all EQUALLY made. In a sharp contrast to our falling society which increasingly treats women like objects, students are taught that men need to step up and treat women RIGHT or they will be judged. Yes, there have been students who don't show Christian character and hurt others, but this issue is so much worse in the public schools where you don't have teachers/other students who are Biblically grounded and will defend your rights. Also, general side note for other commenters, it's YOUR responsibility to prepare for college. Sophomore: Brush Arbor is a good environment for kids trying to grow spiritually and to succeed academically. The teachers are diligent and care about the students.
