Senior: Newman is a small private school with a high tuition cost, and because of that, diversity is lacking. But that comes with the territory, and you would face this issue at any private school in Nola. That being said, as a woman of color, I have always felt safe and cared for here, as they does their best to encourage diversity and inclusion. (let it be known that POC students at Newman have very different experiences and the same can't be said for everyone) On the other hand, the school offers amazing opportunities and great academics for students. It's a community in every sense of the word, helping students build relationships and achieve academic excellence with the guidance of their teachers. Each student can feel individually supported and inspired to do their best, and even though Newman isn't perfect, the positives out weigh the negatives by a lot, and compared to other schools in New Orleans, I'm confident in saying that this is the best. Freshman: I've been going to this school for 12/13 years now, and I'm in the 9th grade. This school has been an amazing experience! I have had fun making friends with the girls in my grade. The best part is the traditions, such as conge (faire), may crowning, and cache cache (hide and seek), that come with being a Sacred Heart student. If you plan on attending this school, it would be an amazing choice. The teachers are amazing! Senior: Jesuit is a school that demands excellence out of its students from day one. Because of these high expectations, the work load is something that every student has to adjust to fairly quickly to avoid falling behind. What I most appreciate about attending Jesuit High School is that this school taught me more than just lessons in the classroom. I was able to learn great organizational and time management skills. I also learned how to meet new people everyday since the average class size is about 250. What I would change about Jesuit is the lack of opportunity for students to express themselves at school. A lot of schools have a uniform, this is not what I am referring to. Senior: Mount Carmel is such an amazing school. The environment is extremely inclusive and loving. I know that I am truly cared about at the school. I receive a wonderful education, and I feel well prepared for college. Administration makes sure we have a great mix of fun and seriousness. Senior: I had a great experience at De La Salle! I loved the culture at school and the people around me, it truly felt like i belonged and that everybody fit in and had their place. Alum: As a recent alum, I have been catching myself thinking about my time at Ursuline Academy very frequently because of the wonderful memories I have made there. I attended Ursuline from Toddler 2 to Senior year. Now, as a college student, I feel as if I excelled in my academics, extracurricular activities, and social life because of the excellent way Ursuline prepared me for life after high school. I appreciate the sense of community Ursuline has to offer, especially the long-lasting bonds students are able to make with their teachers. Senior: I have been with Holycross since 5th grade, through those early years in middle school I believed that this was the best school ever. The school atmosphere was great the teachers really care for you when you are there, they want you to succeed and make it to the next year. Senior: My first year in Lutheran High school was during Covid and it was in person learning instead of online but the teachers and staff did everything in their power to maintain a safe environment for the students while giving us a the opportunity to experience the high school year. The teachers are very easy to talk to and very helpful, if I ever needed help with anything the teachers were very welcoming and open to hear what I had to say and talk to me about it. Throughout my junior year (my first year there) I got to know all the teachers and I could tell that they understood our struggles during the pandemic so they made days where we would play games and come to school wearing pajama, they would also give us activities in class so we wouldn't be stressed out about classwork and homework. This is my second year at Lutheran High School and my last year here as well and I am glad to say that I will be graduating here as a senior.
