Junior: I love Phoenix Country Day School. I have been going here since 3rd grade, and I am so glad I made the switch from being at public school from K-2nd grade to PCDS. Because we are such a small school (about 70-80 people per grade), you really have opportunities to develop deep relationships with everyone (students, faculty, other staff). I have really made such great connections with every teacher, regardless of whether or not they have actually taught me. The teachers are extremely well-qualified and I love learning from them. They really do make the extra effort to make sure you understand the material, and reach out outside of class to have other conservations not regarding school. The students are also extremely kind, responsible, and caring. I have made such great friends, even starting in middle school, that I will cherish with me past high school. Junior: ACA is a constantly improving and expanding school. There are pros and cons to its education, but overall, I believe it was best that I went here. Islamic education is vitally important. The Quran classes have especially improved from before, with middle and high school being taught based on skill level rather than grade. Arabic could use improvements for non-Arab speakers, along with more programs, but it is improving. Islamic Studies really depends, and a lot of the benefits come from whether the student pays attention or not, in my opinion. The other basic subjects, like Math and English, are just ordinary. Better than public schools, but perhaps lacking compared to other preparatory schools. Clubs and bonus hours are not too great, but considering the size of the school, I feel like that's acceptable. Junior: I'm an International Student from Russia and Bella Vista College Preparatory gave me an amazing opportunity to try American education. This school gave me a good athletic scholarship and introduced me with all the details of the American system of education. This school is the first school in Arizona that won a Chick-Fil-A Basketball Tournament. What the difference between the usual public school and Bella Vista? Bella Vista is like a big family, where everyone ready to help you, it could be a math problem and it also could be a support with the problem outside the school. Junior: As a junior at NDP, I have witnessed many changes and new members (staff and students) come about. As a new school, there are bound to be many alterations as we try to find our flow. One positive of this school is the cohesiveness between teachers and students. The smaller group allows for more one-on-one and teacher/student involvement. One change I would like to see would be better communication between faculty/staff and the parents. Senior: Redeemer is a k-12 classical Christian school. I've been going there ever since kindergarten and am going there for my senior year soon. It is a small school so you get to know every single person there. You will even find high schoolers interacting with kindergarteners! Since the class sizes are very small (usually 20 at most per classroom), the teachers are very involved with the students and it's a very personal learning experience. They teach you how to think for yourself and stand your ground in a world that is ready to toss you to the wind. Niche User: I loved St. Mary's. I decieded to go because two of my brothers went and I saw how much they loved it. I did have options whether to go to St. Mary's or go to tolleson high school because it is my home town, but I just had a feeling that God called me to go to St. Mary's. St. Mary's really did help me to be closer to God and have a better relationship with Him. I had no regrets going too. I made amazing friends, had a great time playing baseball all four years there, and now dating the most perfect girl. I will miss St. Mary's. I had so many great memories during prom, homecoming, baseball and just being involved to games and clubs. I would never think abot changing at St. Mary's it was just a perfect experience of High school and i am going to truly miss it. Senior: Overall, I feel that valley has allowed me to mentally prepare for the college level in ways such as academics, life experiences, as well as the social aspect. Valley Lutheran has a great community of people and allows for acceptance and new beginnings. What is also nice is there is more personal connections with staff and they make sure to create a pleasant work environment for the students. Parent: While observing my daughter at home online during the pandemic, I realized how important it was that we move her to a school that better suited her needs. Jones Gordon saved her! As a bright child with dyslexia, she had withdrawn from learning & begun losing her self esteem & developed major anxiety. It was heartbreaking. We were shocked when she fell in love with school/learning again at Jones Gordon after almost the first day!? She has been there over a year now. The owner & staff at the school genuinely care. The teachers have time for them & are able to give them exactly what they need. This school is special & I only wish all children had this opportunity. We feel supported. She is in 7th grade, very social & loves school. JGS holds the students responsible & is a safe space. The school does not allow bullying & staff get involved, making it a relaxed space. I've been going to NCS since I was three because I attended their Mom's Day Out program (a daycare program before preschool), so I'm what was called a "lifer." Now that I'm leaving NCS to pursue the next level of education, I recognize how much of a blessing it was. From elementary to high school, there were always opportunities for students to get involved in extracurriculars, which, for me, positively impacted my education experience because I looked forward to school even more. Some of my most cherished memories range from taking brain breaks in fourth grade while my teacher dressed up in silly outfits to blasting music with my high school soccer team on the way to our last playoff game.
