Sophomore: Really amazing academic programs that really challenge your critical thinking skills. The admin. really cares about the students and mental health, and there are so many resources for one to succeed. Also, there are numerous clubs and community engagement opportunities for students to engage in with kind and welcoming faculty advisors. The teachers are also very open to help and really care about the students working there. One amazing thing about Milton is that our Upper School Principal teaches a class in order to get to know students better, and a lot of the admin. knows students on a name to name basis. The homework is manageable and allows for students to excel in extracurriculars. Parent: Our children moved from a local State school to BISB three years ago. From day one the school has provided a first class academic and social education, helping children become well rounded members of the community. The teaching staff are very attentive to each individual child’s learning capabilities and needs, and the small class sizes are a definite advantage. Parent: I want to add my support as the parent of two recent Bancroft graduates. As much as it was clear while my kids were still there that Bancroft was a great school (both in terms of academic strength and in terms of inspiring, caring teachers), I didn't really understand how great it was until they started college. Both of them went on to highly selective colleges (one of them with a $100K merit scholarship), and when they got to college, they just excelled. Something about the Bancroft approach to inquiry and curiosity, writing, public speaking, and self-advocacy was the perfect alchemy for college success. They were both much better prepared than their college classmates, and both ended up being a go-to resource for college friends who weren't as strong at thinking independently, writing, and participating in a college community. Parent: We are so happy to have found ISB! Our three children are in lower, middle, and upper school, so we've seen a good cross section of the entire school experience. The lower school bilingual program is a real advantage - a good balance of English and French - and it's also accredited, which is what we were looking for. Other schools offer full immersion, but at the expense of learning English and they are not accredited. The middle school does a great job of attending to well-being in addition to continuing the bilingual opportunities. Our older son chose to take more French classes in middle school when he was younger, but our middle son is opting for more English. Both have had good experiences. Our older son is currently studying for the IB diploma in the Upper School. The level of personal attention he is getting from his teachers and the new college counselor is tremendous and way more than we could have ever expected if we had put him in the local public school.... Parent: The admistration is highly productive. They did not lose a day of teaching in the pendemic. They has no expereince for the online teaching before the covid hited us. Right after the spring break, online lessons were started as a half day program on Monday. On Wednesday, they switched to a whole day class to fully engage students. They never missed the summer camp and even open the campus much earlier than most other schools still did not know how to open their campus. It truely respect people's choice & rights. Never force anyone to be vacinnated. They teach kids critical thinking by allow them to listen to all perspectives instead of teaching kids to one direction which would altimatly destoy the country. Teachers are really caring about kids and would approach parents regarding how to help the kids become better. Not the fake love elsewhere. Great school with true loves, caring and common sense. Parent: A+ experience so far! Our child has attended Hartsbrook for a couple years now in Early Childhood. We came into the school hoping they'd be able to accommodate sensory issues with our child, also knowing that a Waldorf education is practically designed to comfort the nervous system. The teachers have been absolute angels. I adore how they meet each child as individuals and don't try to change them; they work with their strengths and build them up. They listen and support the children, who absolutely ADORE their teachers. To boot, you can't beat the community, which is like joining a family. School events are magical, everyone knows one another and is welcoming, and you always know other parents are looking out for your child. Parent: Whitinsville Christian School is not just a school, it's a family. One of my girls has attended K-2 and the other just completed K. They feel loved by all the staff every day they walk in the building, which even includes staff at the front desk and teachers they haven't even had yet! As a parent, I feel like the staff care about me as well. Everyone is always so welcoming. We've built relationships and my children are excited to go back to school in August. They miss their friends and teachers. The other night, my youngest prayed that she could hug her teacher again. I contacted her teacher and she met up with us just so she could get that hug! Parent: Our introduction to PVCA began when my son was approaching kindergarten age. We wanted to find the best fit for our family, and we found it at PVCA. Works Here: I love that many students participate in outside activities such as clubs and sports. However, as a math teacher, this sometimes disrupts students' learning process. Students are often dismissed for participating in their extracurricular activities. I love having technology accessible to my students as I can project my ti-84 CE calculator on the big screen. I wish teachers had access to color printers. This would help explain transformation to my students who need a little more visual aid. Saint Marry is a nice community where all students are welcome. We have many athletes who train hard both on and off the field. I love being a math teacher, hosting games to help the students learn better. I wish I had more whiteboards. I always like the movie Good Will Hunting, where they show that boards can be moved up and down. One of the best parts of teaching is giving back to a community.
