Junior: Keystone is difficult at times. Most students in high school struggle with mental disorders, and the wellness programs are a total mess. That being said, being at Keystone gives students initiative. Compared to the standard for schools in Texas, Keystone has an almost unparalleled academic program perhaps only second to BASIS. Students learn critical thinking skills and are given invaluable tools to prepare for college. When I was in middle school, I found the middle school program provided valuable note-taking and learning skills for high school. The teachers are truly amazing and want you to approach them. Because Keystone is pretty small, there aren't many clubs offered, which is a major downside, the student population is not very diverse, and there are a couple of teachers that are terrible but won't be fired because of their emotional ties with the school. Senior: I went into Saint Mary's Hall as a freshman and even though I was new going into the school, I fit right in! Over the past four years here I have found it easy to become involved in various activities such as sports, theater productions, and clubs, all of which are open and inviting to every student. Students here are encouraged to have a voice in school policy, and we frequently work with administration to figure out ways to benefit everyone in the community. Parent: This has been our first year at the Atonement catholic Academy. We moved from CA last summer and our main concern was to find a school for our sons with both high academic standards and Christian values. AA has it all. The teachers have exceeded our expectations, the staff is helpful and caring. We have met wonderful families that have welcomed our family as their own. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to be. There are rules, of course, but the learning environment is incredible. The kids are treated with love and respect. Parent: All of my daughters have graduated from Castle Hills. The teachers are all extremely qualified, loving, caring, and challenge students to grow not only academically but in their walk with the lord. Many times my children have commented that it was through the mentoring and conversations with teachers that they were inspired to pursue their goals. The teachers were a partner in our children’s education and in encouraging them. I knew that what we were teaching at home and encouraging at home would be supported at the school. This is HUGE! Alum: Living Rock is a school that you can drop your kid off and not have to worry about that them whether it's their academics or their time with classmates and teachers. Each kid is not only loved unconditionally by all the administration but treated as a child of their own. I can say I know from firsthand experience that any trouble you have in your life as a student within a heartbeat anyone would be willing to help. Doesn't matter if its staying hours after school to get a subject down or just to talk about problems you are having teachers at Living Rock are always there. The same is to say about the coaches, me being an athlete at Living Rock spent many hours with our coaches in each sport. Alum: As a former student at River City Believers Academy, or RCBA I loved the school. After graduating from RCBA I quickly realized how I will never have the same bond with other teachers or classmates. Most of my teachers at RCBA felt like family, I knew I could always reach out to a teacher if I needed help, if I needed advice, or anything. Senior: My experience at Cornerstone Christian Schools has been amazing. Ever since 2nd grade, when I came to this Christian School, I came to know Jesus more. I built many friendships with many other Christians here who have been with me throughout my senior year. The school has prepared me academically and spiritually by setting high examples for us students. I am able to take high-level courses that will prepare me for going into college. The rigorous work we put through has made me into who I am today. I am a hard worker because of this school. Every day, students compete to be better than we were yesterday. We have so much support from the school, knowing that every one of us is loved. The teachers are always there for us whenever we need anything and even offer after-school hours if we need help with school work. Senior: I am a 12th grade student currently attending this school, and my experience has been amazing. This school is extremely unique in various ways, all of which are beneficial to the student experience. Tutoring outside of class is no problem, every teacher there is always willing to help whenever you need it. This is because the school is relatively small, which also makes the school culture better. Everyone knows each other's names, and no one is ever left out. Parent: My family has been at Crestmont since January of 2019, but we have been in the UMS model for 6 years now. Crestmont is such a sweet school with teachers who genuinely care for their students. Not only for their education but also for the condition of their hearts and their relationship with Jesus. And let's face it, they aren't teaching at Crestmont for the massive paycheck! It is truly a ministry for these educators. I love how involved I get to be with my children's education and how I can work hand in hand with the teachers if there is an issue. Parent: We started with Shepherd of The Hills this year. Both of my kids had gone to public schools prior to attending Shepherd. My oldest who has ADHD and other learning accommodations never wanted to go to school. He flat out hated going. Since joining Shepherd his entire attitude has changed, not only his behavior but his grades have improved as well. He looks forward to going to school now. He tells me all the time how nice all of his teachers are, and that he never had that in public schools. I enjoy getting to drop off and pick my kids up from school every day as the location is near my work. My oldest was exposed to some adult material last year on the school bus when another boy was watching inappropriate material on his cell phone. I no longer have to worry about that stuff. Parent: My son had been homeschooled since first grade, but an unexpected family illness forced me to place my son back into school. I was concerned about larger public school classrooms, so opted for a private school. My daughter had attended a private Christian school years before, but I felt a need to try a different one for my son. He entered midway through the second half of sixth grade and immediately felt a connection with his classmates and teachers. Everyone was helpful, caring, encouraging, and supportive. He literally came home happy every day (he is now on Summer break). We really feel as though everyone cares about each individual student at this school and their goals include high academic achievement and helping to build confidence. Parent: I enjoy the Christian education my daughter receives from SHCA's certified teachers. The staff is friendly. Their is always someone at the door welcoming my child and myself with a warm slile. Afterschool the staff on duty ensures the child leaves with their parent or prearranged pickup. If I am stuck in traffic their is an after school care who watches over my child until I arrive. I also love attending Friday worship and watching the children give praise and reveive a message from numerous pastors from the Texas Conference.
