For this reason, the teachers and students are truly interested in the subjects, creating an enriching environment. Freshman: Western Reserve Academy is a really supportive high school that sets up its student with a lot of oppertunities. It has great academic rigor, as well as great sports programs like riflery and wrestling. The school’s teachers are all very supportive and helpful and always encourage students to reach out for help when needed! Parent: My son is new to the Early Learner's program this year. We chose Laurel due to its phenomenal reputation for Early Childhood. Our very first visit confirmed what we had heard in the community: the teachers are second to none, and the environment is welcoming, warm, safe, full of love and lots of learning! After attending the school from pre k to senior year I can say that I am truly grateful for the opportunity. Alum: So I only went to MVS for 2 years because I moved from Arizona to Ohio. This was my first time going to a private school and I was nervous being a new student. However, on my first day their were many students that came up to me and welcomed me and even showed me my classes. A lot was different than a public school. Their were advisories, lunches were longer, I got out of school later, and it was in such a secluded neighborhood. A couple of the best parts of MVS was that I made a bunch of international friends through the school and still we keep in contact, I was able to have such an awesome advisor, teachers that encouraged me through my classes and supported me, having a college counselor help me throughout the college process and even able to talk to my counselor when I was suffering with homesickness. The worst parts of MVS in my opinion is just that I had no time to rest. I felt very stressed and all over the place most days. Overall I would say that a change for MVS is diversity... I started coming here in 7th grade due to the wonderful experience I had on my shadow day. The Summit has excellent resources for both general education and preparing you for life beyond the classroom. Alum: Columbus School for Girls has the most elite collection of teachers whose education ranges from great experience and even to doctoral degrees. Your education and the environment of talented students invokes the desire to learn. My only advice is a reconsideration on an administration level. Rather than hear from your head of school that your education is a “business transaction” or that social issues involving harmful language is to be solved by sitting in a room with the offender where they are allowed to tell the victim how they are wrong, I think careful thought and consideration could be put in to better solve these remarks or dilemmas. Senior: Lake Ridge Academy is a great school for kids who are looking for a hands-on learning community where teachers become friends and advocates. The small size of the school can be challenging socially (particularly in younger years), but the overall quality of the school experience makes it worthwhile. Best English and History teachers anywhere. School of Fine Arts and Center for Scientific Research offer students a chance to pick their adventure. Parent: My son moved to Schilling for high school from a rigorous private school where he never felt understood despite his high IQ. Now, he is a different child. He loves school again and thrives under the exceptionally qualified and caring teachers and staff. They go above and beyond the call of duty to challenge my son in his areas of strength and to help him overcome his areas of weakness. At Schilling, he is completing college level courses easily and loving every minute of it! His ninth grade Biology book was the exact same one my older son used in college, so I know he will not only be prepared for college but will excel there. The school administration deals fairly and efficiently with any problems that arise in a way that teaches the kids to solve or avoid future issues. Our son wanted an alternate science, Spire obliged with online course + local teacher. Athletic facilities unparalleled. Coaches push & challenge, but not negatively. Easily accessible & approachable. Sport science +++ Food healthy & plentiful (neg of other schools). Dorms safe & well supervised. Spire runs like college & our son should have easy transition upon graduation. Although senior year to come, staff already helping choose college that is proper fit for sport & academics. Parent: Moeller High School has been a perfect fit for our family. We are grateful that our sons are experiencing such a well-balanced high school experience. They are challenged by high level academic classes, participate in sports they are passionate about and have time to build relationships with other students. The House System has really helped them flourish as a part of a community, bringing students of different grade levels together to mentor each other and create bonds with individuals they may not have otherwise gotten to experience. Teachers are thoughtful, approachable and understand what it takes to teach young men. It's not only academics they teach but also life lessons to help these men beyond high school. Senior: Bishop Hartley is a great place to get higher education. I am not Catholic but the teachers make it an open discussion for non Catholics to voice their opinions or say what they do in their religion. You meet some very solid friends there as well. I have made great relationships with teachers and the lunch ladies. You wouldn’t think much of people who serve you food but to me they do more they do much more. They always want to know how you are and how school is going for you. I’ve had the best life advice and overall conversations from them. There was one lunch in particular that I’ll never forget. My lunch account was low and I didn’t know, but one lunch lady gave me some grace. I enjoy the women who work in the cafeteria. They are filled with so much joy and are always ready for a conversation. Works Here: I found Liberty Bible when my last child at home refused to do school once too often. I enrolled her in school there and was offered a job. Or was the best decision I ever made!
