Senior: Great district with a lot of great teachers and staff! I have loved being a part of the high school at Northville. I have found so many great students in my classes, the teachers are all very flexible and willing to help, and the administrators are very kind and always welcome everyone with a big smile. With going virtual in 2020, the whole school has really stepped up and provided many accommodations for students, as well as many resources for mental health, college preparation, and overall course rigor assistance. Parent: I am a product of the Grosse Pointe Public Schools having grown up and graduated from them myself. Now, my son has recently graduated (2020 Covid Grad!) and my daughter is currently in 4th grade. My son was a challenge and every opportunity was given to my kid. Sometimes I had to be the vocal advocate, but usually the school approached me with a solution. My daughter has been a relative breeze in comparison. And the school is just as responsive! The teachers, at all levels, are engaged, excited to teach. The teachers are always striving to learn more so they can share and do more for our kids! The community is incredibly engaged! Where else can you go and the most common topic of conversation between parents, students, and non-connected adults are speaking of the school system and how to make it better?! I personally would say that Grosse Ile is a great choice when it comes to furthering your education. This is because I feel that I have had a great experience and education from Plymouth-Canton Community Schools. Sophomore: AP Public Schools are average schools, with some pretty decent resources and a good amount of opportunities to learn, but it's the teachers that make it amazing. The teachers, no matter what grade or subject, make AP a district full of prosperous, motivated students that have been inspired and filled with knowledge by their invested, brilliant teachers. I've had some life-changing experiences at AP and I know they put me on the best track possible. Alum: Dearborn offered a safe and comfortable school for me when I attended classes at Fordson High school, sure things could have been better but in comparison to when I went to Detroit Public schools, Dearborn public schools where a breeze. Junior: As a Junior at this school, I appreciate the the friendliness of the teachers and how willing they are to discuss your grades with you. Our school spirit is really strong—some will say that it’s a bit excessive. We have “spirit weeks” often which is when we dress up according to a different theme every day of the week. Also, our student section at sporting events is prodigious and always creating new chants. We are even seeing students sections branching out to volleyball and hockey games! The one thing that I would change is to eliminate the vaping situation which has also affected lots of other schools. It’s is quite annoying to have to sift through 20 people in a small bathroom just to get to a toilet. Alum: I attended school within the Clarenceville School District my whole life. I went to preschool at Grandview, went to elementary school at Bostford, and attended the middle and high school. I have many fond memories of growing up in this school system, from being in elementary school and having root beef float parties, to middle school activity nights, to the high school homecoming festivities and games. The district really does work with what they have and tries to do the best for all students, academically and activity-wise. I got a good education that I feel did prepare me for college by teaching me not only the information itself, but also how to study and communicate. The teachers, in my experience, cared a lot about the students and wanted everyone to succeed. During my time in the district, there was not much diversity. I felt that there were a lot of opportunities to grow, however my only critique is that during my enrollment, there were not many advanced placement courses for students at the high school.
