Parent: My son started here last fall, and his Sept. NWEA test showed he was below grade level. However, by January, he tested again and was above grade level. This school is fantastic! Amazing teachers. Awesome staff. Great curriculum. Williamsburg Learning, the company that creates the LAU program, is also excellent. We couldn't be more pleased with our son's progress.... Sophomore: I am part of the program MTech High Academy which is part of the ProvoE school. As student of Mytech, I am able to participate in a online Financial Literacy course, as well as take two Brigham Young University High school courses online. I have had an overall pleasant experience with MyTech High, however with some of the tech programs provided, my family has had some extremely unpleasant tech problems. Senior: I love Utah online it was always the best option for me while going to school and working a full time job. It allows me to work on school whenever i could throughout the day it worked with my schedule so much, i absolutely would recommend it to everyone. One thing i would say about it is that it’s not a major issue i just think that i’m my personal opinion communication between the students and the teachers sometimes isn’t always there. Sophomore: This amazing charter school is streamlined for efficiency. Our daughter was able to engage in live sessions each day with her teacher and classmates while also following a steady, well-thought-out curriculum. I would recommend this incredible online school to anyone who loves charter schools and wants/needs to homeschool for any reason. We weren't sure what it would be like at first, but it's been our saving grace, and our daughter is learning at a pace that both challenges and compliments her. The teachers are fabulous and are always willing to answer any questions. Her supplies and laptop came in record time, and they also offer other opportunities for future career growth, college scholarships, and even internship programs she wouldn't have had the opportunity to pursue at her old school. Niche User: Graduation Alliance and The American Academy have been wonderful. My husband is earning his high school diploma currently. As an ESL adult, who wasn't able to finish school as a teen in MX, he explored other diploma/GED programs in the last 10 years, but couldn't afford tuition, didn't have time while trying to work, and/or was too physically exhausted from 12-16 hour work days to spend 2-4 hours in evening classes. The American Academy has been such a brilliant solution! We paid the super affordable tuition (no ongoing tuition stress); he's able to login and complete classes as he can and needs; he has regular check-ins with his coach; and he's able to access Spanish language resources and speaking coaches! Most of all, the curriculum and coursework is thoughtfully created: it's clear that teachers and administrators have collaborated to understand the needs of students and prepare them for both success in the program, and success in accessing the world beyond the diploma.... Parent: My daughter has attended UCA since she was in kindergarten. She is now in 6th grade. UCA has been precisely what we needed—a good curriculum, flexibility, and an excellent team of teachers ready, willing, and able to assist us. Every year, our experience at UCA gets better and better. At home, in the day-to-day, we, too, have put in the effort and dedication needed to be successful in this instructional setting. I feel the school really stepped up to the task to meet the students’ needs in the classroom and socially in the middle of a very trying time. The national clubs and the school activities really made a difference! The sense of community among the students has been great. The support and encouragement of her UCA teachers have been key in progressing towards being an independent learner and exploring new areas of learning. Alum: There were two major aspects in which I felt Lumen scholar institute excelled. One, community spirit, and two, academic opportunities. The first has many facets. There were a number of incredible opportunities students could be involved in. We regularly held student led fundraisers and projects. We made wigs for cancer patients, advocated anti-bullying in middle schools across Utah, and held drives for food and other supplies. These student led projects fostered a true spirit of unity. The second facet of Lumen Scholar Institute I found appealing was it's academic opportunities. We had flexible schedules and top notch teachers that provided a fun and enriching environment. I also personally benefited from Lumens program by graduating highschool with my associates degree. Something I didn't know was possible, and that opened up a lot of learning opportunities for me. Parent: We love Williamsburg! It is the perfect fit academically for our child. It is challenging but allows our child to work at her pace. The mentors(teachers) here are incredible. They are happy and enthusiastic about teaching, always coming to class in a good mood with positive attitudes. So refreshing to have great teachers and quality education together. Mentors are always willing to help and teach outside of class. Our child has become a much more independent student and takes pride in her work and schooling. Our child always talks about how she feels she can really learn in her classes and doesn’t feel like the teachers move on without the students understanding the material. Works Here: I love being a part of this community. My favorite thing about our school is that we get a chance to face-time with students via video conferencing and have an opportunity to connect with them. Other online schools may have a more disconnected model, but I love that we get a chance to learn about our students' goals, ambitions, and struggles. Seeing growth and positive change is what keeps us going. When students know they have an advocate at the school, it makes such a huge difference in academic performance. I love what we do!...
