From clubs and in-person meetups to online alternatives, I connected with my friends and classmates often. So I loved the people I met and the educated and accomplished faculty! Parent: My son was enjoying learning for the first time in his life. He felt like his teachers knew his name and cared about his success and that made a big difference for him. They also made learning fun and applied the lessons to his life. In public school they have assignments and sent you home, but in this school my son said the lessons were relatable and interesting. The teachers applied them to our normal life and so it made sense. He feels like AIA teachers teach people, rather than lessons and that has made all the difference. Parent: ICL Academy has been a gift for our student/athlete! Our son attended public and private school, neither compares to our experience at ICL for rigorous academics that accommodate a non-traditional schedule. ICL has been incredibly STRESS FREE with our heavy travel schedule. ICL has live online classes with engaging teachers from all over the world. The administrators are passionate and knowledgable. They keep him on track with NCAA requirements. My son feels inspired to learn and accountable for his own efforts. ICL offers a wide variety of electives from Art History to the Business of Sports. We love the champion talks from successful athletes and world leaders who inspire the kids with their personal journeys. Our son is extremely tech savvy and well versed on managing his time thanks to ICL. We have made great connections and our son has benefitted from their guidance and mentorship. Senior: I had a bad experience in middle school. We had just moved, I was failing classes, and I wasn't making friends. I begged my mom to home school me. We found Learning Post and enrolling ended up being one of the best decisions I've ever made. Learning Post allows its students to learn at their own pace. The classes may be online but you can work one on one time with any of your teachers. I am far less stressed and my grades have gone from failing to straight A's. despite being an online school there are still plenty of opportunities to make friends. Parent: IVLA has been an excellent school choice for us for the last 4 years After many years of positive experiences at their brick and mortar school, this choice for us came with hesitation. This change occurred at a time where our family desired more flexibility for their extra curricular activities and for travel abroad. I soon realized that this was an excellent decision. Senior: I love Orchard View! I've been a student here since fourth grade. I love the one-on-one personal instruction and how the school caters to each individual student's needs. It's unique hybrid home school/independent study program both allows students time in the classroom collaborating with peers, and teaches important time management and self sufficiency skills. This structure provides me more free time to pursue extracurricular activities while also getting a robust education. The teachers at Orchard View are amazing. They are passionate about what they do, and truly care that each student succeeds. I feel that they have prepared me very well for college. In high school, students are encouraged to take classes at the Santa Rosa Junior College. Sophomore: I really enjoy being at this school I get to sign up for unique classes and sports and get to spend more time doing stuff I live like surfing! One way it could improve is more efficient way than a ton of paper work to be able to get funds for certain organizations. Parent: My kids have been with CCA Southern, CA for several years now, and really enjoy it. This school is definitely superior to the in-person options, and provide the flexibility they need as scholar athletes! Their teachers are kind and engage frequently to guide their education to ensure they remain on track. The courses are challenging, which will certainly prepare them for higher education. Both of my kids are in the honors courses and National Junior Honor Society, which places higher expectations on them which they appreciate. The school hosts field trips and various celebrations throughout the year so the kids can connect with their peers in-person as well. Not having the distractions they once had in the in-person experience, allows them to have a better handle on their mental health, connect with family, and enjoy the learning process again. Senior: I came a long way because I have several health issues I couldn't stay long hours in school because I was always sick. Until one day in regular school we had to the mile club in the hot weather but something happened I was not feeling good and I fainted and the call my mom and they don't want to be responsible for me stay at school and they want me to be homeschool I finish 6th grade and want to other school but they didn't understand me and I end up in the hospital for the pressure that I felt it n this. Senior: Transferred to online school here during the latter half of my freshman year as and have had an great experience! I found there are more opportunities to connect with teachers if you need the extra help (or you can totally have a more hands-off approach and less interaction) and they are flexible w/ curriculum: I've taken courses from my community college, BYU, and Edgenuity courses through this time, allowing me to have more breadth and intellectual stimulation in my education thanks to broader course offerings. One aspect I didn't quite find at Cabrillo Point was clubs of interest or much community with other students which is to be expected with online school and needs to be found elsewhere.... Senior: I first decided to go to CAVA at San Joaquin because I felt like continuing to attend an in person public school would not benefit my learning experience at all. Once I switched to CAVA I saw how civil the students were in the chat of our class calls. My teachers don't have any problems when teaching other than the occasional technology issues. My class work is self paced so I could proceed in my own time without having to stress about not being ahead in my class. I am more organized now and I rarely feel stressed when skimming at deadlines. My homeroom teacher even sends scholarship opportunities! However my only problem is that the teacher to student connections aren't very good but that is to be expected considering my teachers have so many students. It's hard to get one on one time with any of your mentors and it can get a bit lonely at times but there are clubs to help with that. Senior: Excellent school system with helpful and responsive teachers! Given the COVID-19 pandemic, many other students like myself transferred to other online/charter schools. The curriculum proves to be rigorous, but is easy to understand and access due to the meticulous structure of the learning platform and professional educators. While it is still growing as a school, Method is one of the best ways for independent learners to advance themselves in a convenient and efficient manner; Unlike most public schools, we are able to work at a controlled pace, having access to the coursework at all times. This allows us to get ahead if we wish to, or just have a flexible learning schedule and take other separate extracurricular classes or activities simultaneously. One of its weaknesses, however, is the lack of student involvement. Niche User: I had moved to this school for 7th grade due to my previous school, Hillcrest Academy in Temecula, CA wasn't good for me academically or financially. I will admit, I am a shy person.
