Parent: My son was enjoying learning for the first time in his life. He felt like his teachers knew his name and cared about his success and that made a big difference for him. They also made learning fun and applied the lessons to his life. In public school they have assignments and sent you home, but in this school my son said the lessons were relatable and interesting. The teachers applied them to our normal life and so it made sense. He feels like AIA teachers teach people, rather than lessons and that has made all the difference. Parent: We have been at Avenues Online for 4 years, and it has been a life-changing experience for our entire family. The faculty is extraordinary - brilliant, caring, and gets to know your child extremely well. The curriculum is outstanding and incorporates current events and real-world problems. Our son attended public and private school, neither compares to our experience at ICL for rigorous academics that accommodate a non-traditional schedule. ICL has been incredibly STRESS FREE with our heavy travel schedule. ICL has live online classes with engaging teachers from all over the world. The administrators are passionate and knowledgable. They keep him on track with NCAA requirements. My son feels inspired to learn and accountable for his own efforts. ICL offers a wide variety of electives from Art History to the Business of Sports. Freshman: Our 14 year old son has attended several schools in the past ranging from a free range Sudbury School model, to homeschool/unschool , private liberal arts boarding school to a short stint at our local public highschool. None can compare with Sora! We were tearing our hair out looking for an alternative solution and we had a "eureka" moment when my wife found Sora Schools during a late night google search session. Our son LOVES Sora. He is thoroughly engaged in this exciting and innovative learning process, making new friends, thriving during his "expeditions" and motivated in a way we had only dreamed. Junior: This school is amazing, and is perfect for anyone who has a super busy schedule, like me! I have a rigorous ballet schedule, that requires my focus and attendance most of the hours of the day. Because of FLVS, I am able to continue to pursue my passion for dance and get an excellent education, at the same time! Senior: I had a bad experience in middle school. We had just moved, I was failing classes, and I wasn't making friends. I begged my mom to home school me. We found Learning Post and enrolling ended up being one of the best decisions I've ever made. Learning Post allows its students to learn at their own pace. The classes may be online but you can work one on one time with any of your teachers. I am far less stressed and my grades have gone from failing to straight A's. despite being an online school there are still plenty of opportunities to make friends. Sophomore: I want to emphasize one thing about HVS: its not for everyone. If you have a hard time staying motivated in traditional in person schooling, make sure you think hard before you sign up full time at this school. A big part of HVS is having the self discipline to get things done. The teachers are typically super helpful, but you have to attend live lessons and ask for help when you need it. With that being said, I think this school is great for motivated students who want more flexibility in their learning, either to work, volunteer, and generally decide how you structure your time. As long as you submit 3 or more assignments in each of your classes per week (you can turn in work 24/7) you'll remain in good standing. You can also resubmit most assignments up to 3 times for a better score which is awesome for High School students hoping to get a higher GPA. Senior: I love Orchard View! I've been a student here since fourth grade. I love the one-on-one personal instruction and how the school caters to each individual student's needs. It's unique hybrid home school/independent study program both allows students time in the classroom collaborating with peers, and teaches important time management and self sufficiency skills. This structure provides me more free time to pursue extracurricular activities while also getting a robust education. The teachers at Orchard View are amazing. Alum: The best High school experience I could have ever had! Fusion prepared me so well for college. I know how to plan my schedule, study efficiently and take care of my health, which we are never taught in typical high school settings. My prior high school experience was terrible. I was stressed, my teachers did not care about me and I was given an insane work load with no helping hands from teachers. At Fusion, everyone from the admin, faculty, and teachers, (even the ones you don't even have), care so deeply about you academic, mental, physical and personal health. Junior: GWUOHS is a fantastic school! The teachers are supportive and always willing to help out students. Teachers provide all the materials and help needed for students that want it, but at the same time, they give independence to the student. From personal experience, I have always had attentive and very friendly teachers. The class connects allow for interactive learning and collaboration for classes and clubs. Clubs at GWUOHS are also a lot of fun and are primarily run by students. Students can start their own clubs with a teacher sponsor and structure them how they would like. In creating a club or being a leader in a club, teachers offer as much assistance as students want and are always there for advice and connecting students. GWUOHS also has opportunities to showcase leadership and skills to colleges through honor societies, student government, competitive scholarships, and more.
