Sophomore: I love the environment. It’s an incredibly diverse place. Everyone has a place there. The students are amazing and the teachers are definitely qualified for the job. They always respond quickly and teach amazingly. The school has so many resources that I can’t even count them all. They especially have a great college prep course. They constantly remind you and tell you to do research on colleges and to study for the past. Regarding the P-sat, they have many prep classes for it. Clubs and activities are a big part of the school. After-school, there’s constantly students on campus. If you think of any club, chances are that they have one. They have a great fine arts program. Parent: Berkeley is a great school. Lots of amazing teachers who really care about their students academic growth and well being. Children are challenged with an exciting, broad curriculum that prepares them well for high school. Middle schoolers get to try as many sports as they want. High school students are offered a good number of courses with levels giving everyone a chance to be challenged and succeed . There is a myriad of Extracurricular activities and the school is generally open to students interests, so if they are interested in a club that does not exist they will likely be able to form one. The investment in and quality of high school sports varies depending on sport, so there is room for improvement there. The arts program is very good. Senior: I've attended Pine View School from 2nd grade through 12th grade. This place is great and offers many advanced classes for those who are consistently performing above their grade level. Once a student reaches high school, they have so much freedom in what classes they take and what path they want to go down with their academics. This school teaches kids to be independent and work hard. On the other hand, unfortunately, being gifted comes with its fair share of consequences as well. The levels of depression, anxiety, and other mental illnesses here is much higher than at other schools. Consistently pushing oneself to ace rigorous courses takes a toll on one's mental health. Pine View has good resources and understanding staff when it comes to this, but all I want to say is that it is NOT FOR EVERYONE. Just because you or your child are gifted does not mean you should attend. Be prepared to have your limits tested... I hope you have a good work ethic! Personally, I owe PV everything.... Senior: I have attended Gulliver for years and they run an amazing educational system. All the students create great, professional relationships with their teachers and it really helps the learning process. Their Theatre department is outstanding. Senior: I love Palmer Trinity School because of the opportunities it has and will provide for me. Senior: I'm a "lifer" at Shorecrest, having been here since Alpha. My experience with the school is perhaps different from students now since there have been many changes both faculty/administration-wise as well as with the newest buildings on campus. Shorecrest introduced me to reading at a very young age. I'm very grateful for that. The quality of education that I have and am receiving is top notch. Middle school prepared me very well for upper school, and now, as a graduating senior, I feel quite confident in my academic abilities. Teachers are just fantastic. The theater and athletics programs are excellent. As a small school, students have the opportunity to be deeply involved in a number of programs, ranging from service clubs to sports to the annual Spring Musical. Being able to do a range of things is important as it allows students to forge their own path by testing different areas out and seeing how they like them. Parent: After my wife and I toured numerous private school options, it was evident that the academic rigor, location, and sense of community at Prep was irreplaceable. Our son is a rising Junior and we cannot be more thrilled with how he has progressed academically, socially, and as a newly minted global citizen (having traveled through Europe via a Tampa Prep based practicum). However, what has amazed us the most, was experiencing the thoughtfulness demonstrated by the faculty, when my son fractured his leg. I was shocked at the number of phone calls we received from the teachers, coaches, etc. They genuinely wanted to understand how they could be supportive throughout his future healing process. Middle School Student: I have been attending Carrollwood Day School for the majority of my life, and I can confidently say that there is no better environment than CDS. All of the teachers genuinely care about you and push you to succeed in and out of the classroom. Since CDS is an IB school, class sizes are small (no more than 18 students), enriching, and truly prepare you for college. CDS also offers a wide array of sports and has a strong arts program offered at every grade level, with music, theater, and visual art options for electives. Recently, CDS built a brand-new athletic complex and gymnasium accompanied by a weight room, and a new building is being built at the moment, expanding the Middle School/Upper School campus. The faculty and staff at CDS are incredibly welcoming and kind; once I forgot my lunch in the car and when a teacher noticed, they didn't hesitate to buy me a lunch from FLIK (our dining service).
