Senior: I am currently a senior at MacDuffie, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the past four years I have spent there. The academics are excellent, as there is a wide variety of classes supplemented by a substantial offering of honors and AP courses. The teachers are absolutely excellent as well. They truly care about what they are teaching, and they will do whatever they can to help their students succeed. As for extracurriculars, there are many ways to get involved with sports, the arts, and more outside of school, whether it is on a team, in a club, or in a CAP (co-curricular activities program). The arts facilities leave a little to be desired, but it is amazing what the arts teachers can do with what they have! Overall, these past four years have been amazing, and while I definitely feel as if MacDuffie has more than adequately prepared me for college and beyond, I will still miss MacDuffie. Go Mustangs!... Parent: We chose WMA for its strong academic reputation noted for intelligent, caring faculty, a wonderful curriculum and diverse extracurricular activities but ended up getting far more! Our impression is that WMA somehow magically selects talented students from caring families creating an amazing student body full of smart but thoughtful human beings. This community quickly becomes a little family where the students support each other & feel cared for by faculty. WMA definitely has something for everyone. Not only was our son exposed to a vast array of Sports: Rugby, Water polo, Football and the Arts: Music/Theater but a myriad of other wonderful things. Most importantly though is the exceptional student body. It’s a nice balance between a “Mini United Nations feel” & Local Community Vibe blending perfectly students from this rural New England area and from across the globe. Parent: While sending my daughter to study abroad, I worried about her life and academics very much. However, the teachers and dorm parents in this school proved that my choice is correct! With the combined efforts, the school as a whole improved our daughters physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally. This year, my kid is accepted by the Boston University, and I'm so proud of her! Junior: The Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter School as an amazing school for those who want advanced education, and small, more intimate classes. PVCICS teaches all grades from K-12 with a range of immersion of the Chinese Mandarin Language. The highschool (9-12), takes honours classes in 9th and 10th grade, and the 11th and 12th graders are all enrolled in the IB Programme which teaches college level classes, along with college credit that can take of 1-2 years off your college degree. The class sizes are also very small and intimate, as the grade sizes range from 10-50 students total. Parent: WOW, is all I can say about HCSS West! As a parent, we all want the best for our children but lets face it, it may not be achieved in a public school setting. For my child, it definitely wasn't and was looking for a new environment where he wasn't labeled any more. I did my research which showed both good & bad reviews. We went for a tour and talked to people. Since he was almost failing his core classes, he was miserable, and he fought every time he had to get ready for school, I figured what was the worst thing that could happen with the change? I just knew it was stressful and a miserable way to start every day. Day one, he came home and said he loved it which brought tears to my eyes. Never had we heard anything like that from his mouth! Never had we seen excitement to go to school! Never had we seen him make honor roll! Never in my wildest dreams did I expect this to happen but I am so happy it did. Parent: If you are looking for a Challenging curriculum, dedicated and attentive teachers and staff, with some of the best Sport coaches in the area HCSS is the school for you. I have a son who graduated in 2020 and is now thriving in WNE mechanical engineering program and a current 8th grader in the honors program. Both of my boys want to go to school everyday, enjoy the challenging courses and play/ed three varsity sports. They have made great friends, gained mentors and are being prepared for college. In the very few times where we have had a curriculum or student behavior issue, it has been address quickly and to our satisfaction. I have found that when a student or parent brings issues to the teachers or administrators attention in a respectful manner with realistic expectations they meet or exceed what is necessary to address those issues in a timely manner. Works Here: As a contractor working with the school to set up a state of the art indoor air quality protocol to protect their staff and students, I have been amazed at their caring and unselfish approach to the upgrades on campus. Parent: We were nervous about changing to PVCA, but everything we were nervous about has been addressed and we couldn’t be more happy with the school. We have 3 kids attending, the teachers have been amazingly responsive and love our kids just as much as we do! The academics are right on and as an educator myself, I am so happy with the learning taking place. My kids are safe, comfortable, happy and learning and growing in the Lord. Administration has been quick to respond and are forward thinking while upholding moral and ethical Christ centered values. My kids get more electives than they would in public schools in a culturally and linguistically diverse community! It’s such a warm welcoming community! Middle School Student: What I experience about chestnut Tag is that it is an upgraded learning school that believes in us kids, they believe that we are smart enough to learn higher grade level work and get grades on them. High School Senior: If I could go to this school all over again, I would. I have learned so many new things from attending WSHS. I can apply things I've learned to everyday life. I love the school activities they have. My favorite experience would have to be the band. It's like we are a giant family.
