Senior: Saint Joe’s has wonderful teachers who genuinely care about their students. There is a lot of opportunity for leadership, and the new House system prides even more! The student life is characterized by a lot of hard work but an equal amount of school events. The atmosphere is welcoming and rigorous, leaving little time for bullying or unruly conduct. Senior: I have attended Green Charter School as a student since 7th grade. The School is public but managed like a private school. I give it four out five stars. I think the School provides a special environment for students. The Middle/High School is Small with less than 300 students. Even though the campus is still very diverse with student from America, Middle East, Europe, Central and South America, and India. The social order of students isn't really a problem as a lot of student would be considered nerds or geeks in other schools. We also have to wear uniforms to school. Administration is sometimes overly-strict and exaggerating at times. This is especially true on dress code issues and interactions between genders. I do wish the school cared and supported the Music and Arts more. I also wish the School would invest more in the prospect of having a library. We do have Sports teams. Parent: Highly recommend! Excellent preparation for college and graduates are attending prestigious universities across the nation.— Excellent academics at all levels with an emphasis on character education and community service. From their youngest years my children were learning at their own pace with hands on materials. This allowed them to learn advanced math in preschool while building their independence. Now in high school, they have science teachers who also teach at the university. Alum: I went to Southwood Academy from 2016-2019, so take that into consideration. If you enjoy the arts, there is no better school in the area to get an intense training in the one art that you choose. However, as someone who is more interested in STEM, I found the art classes to be a intense and I even struggled in my arts area. The academics are also very good for the area. I thought that most of the teachers were good at what they do, and I received a good middle school education, but nothing special. In general, the teachers enjoyed interacting with the students and usually had a group of students who would hang out with them for a few minutes after class was over and who would come visit at the end of the day. Unfortunately, there were not a lot of clubs at the school. Yearbook is one of the only, and it was through application. Alum: I loved my 6 years at CTC! The teachers are so supportive and creative, we were never bored in class. Some of them were very liberal, especially in middle school, but most of them are still non-discriminative of more conservative people like myself. CTC is a community of learners, everybody knows everybody, and everyone is welcome. CTC will challenge you, inspire you, and force you to grow. It is a second home and you will miss it after you leave. I will say that there is a large gap between CTCers and Sterling kids. They’re only together at lunch, recess, and related arts, but I honestly don’t understand why the two schools are combined. Most CTC students don’t live in that area anyway, and both groups could do with more space. They wouldn’t miss each other very much.... Read 9 reviews

Middle School Student: At Langston, classes are single gender, so each gender learns using techniques that would most pertain to them. Langston is a small school which can sometime be a bad thing, but mostly it is a ood thing. Having a smaller school can mean less facilities, but it is good since you get to know all your teachers and peers on a more personal level. When I first came to Langston, I was very shy, but by the end of my first year, I was open about things, and I wouldn't be scared to answer or ask questions. The friends you have at Langston also matters. Langston is filled with good students and people in general. Going there can mean meeting friends you'll have for a long time. You will also get to know your teachers better so you won't be nervous to ask them anything, and you can treat them like a normal peer. In my opinion, Langston is one of the best middle schools I have seen in South Carolina, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who may want to join.... Read 6 reviews

Senior: What I love about SCS is the community and the family that you have the whole attending and even after graduation. The student, teachers, coaches, administration, and everyone involved at SCS help you as a student feel accepted and loved. Faith and scripture are intertwined throughout every course you take, and not to mention the Bible and theology courses that you will take throughout attending. I have personally grown unbelievably closer to God because of my attendance at SCS. I am also involved heavily in the athletic program at SCS and I could not ask for a better group of coaches and teams. Middle School Student: Wren Middle School is an excellent school with wonderful, protective staff that care for the students that go to Wren. The food is wonderful without a doubt, with many selections of varieties of healthy and good items to eat. The principal, and two assistant principals really care about the school. They are extra hard working and are the best at making sure the school is a healthy and safe environment for all students. The guidance counselors are always making sure that everybody is okay, and everyone is happy and feels safe at the school. The school itself is very sanitary. I enjoy going to Wren every day. I feel welcomed at the school and feel like I have a purpose to be at Wren Middle. This school has taught me a lot so far, and can't wait to see what else I can learn!... Read 10 reviews

Middle School Student: Though I'm still currently enrolled in this school, it is quite clear to me the ups and downs. When I first came to this school I was nervous, nervous to meet the teachers, nervous to meet my fellow classmates. During my first school year I was able to make friends and meet people who where like me. The school itself is good at enforcing rules in most classes, though some children find ways to get around it. The school welcomes lots of different people to enroll indiscriminately ranging from low income families to high income families. Lots of people from different places and people who have different religions and heritage. The schools academics system is good and the teachers have there own ways of teaching and getting information to the kids. Especially regarding current situations of this year and last they handled online learning rather well for it being on short notice. Going back to school afterwards was also a smooth transition. Parent: This is a great school all the teachers are kind and really do care about the kids future. Every teacher and encounter we have had with them over the past 4 years have been exceptional and they always push the students to do their best. This was the first school out of three that finally realized that my oldest son had learning disabilities (dylexia and ADHD) and sought to get him tested and help. None of his previous schools or even doctor tried after expressing my concerns. They have fought hard to help him along he is now back in a regular classroom as of last year with A’s and B’s.
