Freshman: My freshman year at McCallie was great. I'm a science-oriented student and McCallie had so many opportunities for me to explore my interest. This year I joined the science bowl, biology research, HOSA, and Future Medical Professionals clubs. I was able to conduct research at McCallie's awesome cell lab and won some prizes at a local and state science fair! The clubs I joined were all run by students with a teacher advisor and were very active. Most clubs would meet at least once a week to prepare for whatever event we had. Additionally, I joined McCallie's Natural Conservational Guild (NCG) which is a club focused on preserving the environment. It was really fun to clean up local rivers and trails as well as start our own garden next to the dining hall. Regarding classes, they were all amazing with extremely supportive teachers who are willing to work with me and they gave reasonable homework. Also, the campus is amazing. Junior: I've been a student at GPS for almost 6 years and though I've had my times of stress, I wouldn't trade my experiences here for anything. The friendships and faculty relationships I've made would be hard to recreate anywhere else because a mutual level of respect and honesty comes with these relationships. The staff at GPS genuinely care for their students, which can be seen in the constant altering of how we do things at this school. Though changes each year tend to be annoying for those who appreciate consistency, it is nice knowing that these changes were made to help us be the best we can be. With its arts, academics, and athletics, GPS never ceases to offer its students the best opportunities that target every girl's curiosity. Senior: Some of the best parts of my school are the arts and the opportunities that come with the arts. Each student is given plenty of options for what they want their focus to be during their time at cca while also being given the opportunity to change said focus. However the Administration could use some work, the administration is strong in some areas, such as money and raising funds; however, the administration is not great at understanding and respecting Highschool students. No matter how old students are they are not treated with respect unless them or their family has something to off the administration personally. Senior: I first moved to Christian Heritage my freshmen year of high school. From a big middle school in Gwinnett County to a little private school tucked behind the woods. My graduating class will have around forty, and the total high school population is less than 200. It was a shock to my system when I walked through the double doors in my pleated skirt for the first time. However as I made my way to my first class, Old Testament Bible, I was put at ease when I saw all smiling faces in my direction. It was a difficult change because I went from being imaginary to the new girl. Although a little overwhelming at first, I adjusted to my new norm and made many friends along the way. With the highs come the lows and unfortunately for me, there were more opportunities educationally in a public school setting. Senior: Chattanooga Christian School is a very well-rounded place. There you can find talented athletes of all kinds, intelligent thinkers, skilled singers and dancers, and just overall good friends. I have been attending Chattanooga Christian School since I was a tiny girl in kindergarten, and now I am in my senior year and there truly is no place I would have rather grown up. I have not had a single teacher that did not care about me deeper than the surface level, and I believe that they all truly want to see us students grow and succeed. I found such tight-knit communities in each class, and every class had a perfect balance of fun and hard work. Personally, where I felt I thrived the most at Chattanooga Christian School was in the musical theatre department. It brought so many different kinds of people together and allowed us to have fun while expressing our talents and creative side. Middle School Student: I've noticed that most of my teachers have helped form the present me. They give you help and advice if you ask for help. You have to overcome the fear of social interaction to get the same experience I did. The administration is okay but they will help deal with situations if you reach out to them. Senior: Public schools always have a bad reputation, whether it is the people, the sports, or the food, there is always something "low quality". But my public school experience is different. Getting to drive through the rolling mountains, the mountain-top views, and smelling the fresh air is something I will never regret. Signal Mountain does an amazing job of bringing in the scenery with the learning experience. I have the privilege of a school community that does its best to put the students first and allow them to have the best high school experience possible. And for that, I am grateful for it. I do, however, believe that public schools do not have the same pay as private schools, therefore extracurricular activities are not as prominent as they are in private schools.
