Alum: I transferred to Riverstone in my junior year and the community welcomed me right in. Even before I entered the school year, I was connected with a "buddy" and I started to exchange emails with her to chat about classes and etc., which became a great way for me to learn about Riverstone. I was one of the very first residents at the dorm, which is a beautifully renovated complex on the River Street. Our dorm parents of the time, Margaret and Mary, were extremely caring. I really enjoyed the experience of living with kids from all over the world and learning about their cultures and experiences. The academics at Riverstone was definitely challenging and the faculty there were top-notched. The IB program was the hardest thing that I have ever done and it truly prepared me for college. When I started my freshman year at BU, classes felt relevantly easy, or that I would have the tools and capabilities to learn. Overall, I really couldn't thank Riverstone enough for everything!... Senior: I've been at Liberty Charter school since 4th grade, and I'll be graduating this week from Liberty. This school has such a great community. Everyday I'm surrounded with teachers, classmates, and friends that make going to school and learning an amazing experience. The rules are a lot stricter here, but they are still reasonable and manageable, and it's all worth it to be part of such a great environment. Alum: It is a good school. The small classes make it easy to learn and easy to make friends. I’ve graduated now, but when I was there I loved it. However, since I’ve gone, I’ve heard that there’s been bullying and the rules have gotten stricter. A bad thing about this school is that the rules are very tight and many of them are not important. There was a general feeling of anger towards the faculty because of that. However, the education is exceptional, and I heard that many classes are taught one grade level above what is required. When I was there, they had choir, theater, creative writing, extra math, and PE as their extracurriculars. That was a few years ago, so I expect they’ve expanded or improved on their classes. Parent: We are in our 10th year at Sage and have nothing but wonderful things to say about it. We started in kindergarten, and their IB program provides so much hands-on inquiry-based learning to make school fun for young learners. The teachers are all amazing. There is no school on Fridays, giving students a chance to recoup or catch up on schoolwork, and the teachers and staff have a full day each week to collaborate, prep, and learn. Their middle school and high school programs are rigorous but fair, and do a wonderful job preparing our kids for college, career, and just life in general! Senior: For a relatively brand-new school when I attended, I loved the facilities, staff, teachers, and resources. Having a huge library and plenty of space outside to stretch our legs helped keep my fellow peers and I in check when we had rigorous classes throughout the day. High School Senior: I loved my overall experience at Heritage Middle School. The school is very unique in that, there is very little bullying and everyone gets along. The administrators and teachers make sure that everyone is treated fairly. I could really tell that the teachers truly cared about their students and always took extra time to make sure their students were understanding the concepts. Senior: I would say I have been more than content enough at Victory Charter School. There are many traits to love and to despise. One thing that stands out at Victory is the community. Our community is probably one of the best around the valley. The students get along so well and by the end of the year we become more like family. This also includes the teachers! The teachers are so helpful when it comes to helping students whenever they need or organizing events, even if it means staying at school all day. My school doesn't have many students or teachers, but I think this is why we can grow so close to one another. Nobody is scared to ask questions or ask for extra help, this is why Victory Charter is such a pleasant place. Now don't get me wrong every school has its flaws. Well Victory's is the rules, whether that is no talking in the hauls, strict dress code, or only having off-campus lunch once a quarter. Freshman: As a student of Victory Middle School for 3 years, and I can honestly say that I LOVED my experience. The teachers aren't afraid to get close to their students and are always willing to help out. They also have many different opportunities for students to help them grow. There are classes to both help you improve when you struggle, as well as advanced and honors classes to challenge you and prepare you for not just high school, but college. Plus, the music courses are so fun. I was in choir for 3 years and my teacher was supportive of everyone, quirky, helpful, supportive, and one of my favorite teachers. Also, the students are great. Everyone is kind, and friendly and is willing to help out a peer. This school was amazing! I owe thanks to all the teachers at this school that I was close to because they helped prepare me for the high school that I was fortunate to attend. I recommend this middle to ANYONE! Senior: I enjoyed participating with Thomas Jefferson Charter School from Kindergarten through my senior year. I particularly enjoyed the staff's adaptability for each student by providing more difficult and particularly useful skills to use not only for school but for life. This school pushed me to accomplish things I never thought would be possible. I have learned valuable skills and haven't ever felt lost during my transition from High School to college. I personally wouldn't change any of the staff or practices done at this school, and all staff here are very easy to talk to and get in touch with. Parent: With all the uncertainty in the world, I was hesitant to send my first born to school. He wanted to do in-person learning so I looked into all our options from public to private to charter schools. Many of my friends kids attend the Gem Meridian campus and love it so we chose the Gem Nampa location. I’m so glad we did! All the staff genuinely care about all the kids. The school keeps you up to date with all your children’s needs via a free app that’s easy to download to your phone. Staying in touch with your kids teacher and the staff couldn’t be easier! Senior: North Star is a very tight-knit community that was very scary to walk into halfway through my high school career. However, these students are welcoming to new people as they are used to having exchange students (which is a whole other grand experience in itself). Thought I was meant to be part of the IB Programme, I ended out being in the [obviously less favorable] Capstone Program. North Star is beginning the Business Associates program with all incoming freshmen and students so-forth. Senior: I like the staff, and what the school values. The staff are always kinds, caring to students, and helpful. The teachers are amazing at what they do. The school values the sciences and the arts, has numerous sports and Cross fit programs, and helps connect students with Duel Credit Opportunities. One of the teachers was Idaho Teacher of the Year in 2018. Tuition is free, its a K-12, and I've been going there since 4th grade. Freshman: The diversity and culture of the school as a whole along with the incredible students made Hillside a fun place to be. Everyone knew each other and most students were friendly to everyone they saw. The academics were advanced, as they offered math classes 2 years ahead and one AP class for junior high/freshman students. The school was small, so teachers knew you well and could help you get through many difficulties, whether school related or otherwise. The one downside is the building. It was never built to be permanent. In fact it was designed to be a temporary school to deal with the overflow of other schools for a few years. But despite that it was kept up and running for decades, and the poor quality is very obvious. However, a new gym and cafeteria have been built, and within the next 10 years the entire building is supposed to be demolished, with a new and much improved one going up in its place....
