Cape Hatteras Secondary School
#3 Best Public Middle Schools in Dare County
- Dare County Schools, NC
- Rating 3.83 out of 5 12 reviews
Senior: Cape Hatteras Secondary School has more opportunities than expected for its students considering its small size, but still falls short in preparing those enrolled for college. While there is a guidance counselor and two employees specifically for student to reference if they have questions about anything during the application process, these advisors are shared with the two other high schools in Dare County. There is a bit of pressure for students to shoot low and to stay instate. However, dual enrollment classes through the College of the Albermarle are avalaoble to CHSS students in the junior or senior years of high school.
In addition to COA classes, students may take online courses via North Carolina Virtual Public Schools and Apex Learning, which thankfully bridges the gap between this rural institution and more urban ones for many classes.

Senior: Wanchese Christian Academy was a tremendous part of my growth in education and my spiritual life . Each teacher and staff took time to make sure I was prepared for my next level of education and life. The one thing I think that would help is to try and incorporate AP classes in the future. I am very thankful for my time at Wanchese Christian Academy. I pray for favor for my school and the teachers as I move on to college.
