Parent: Nixon Academy is a excellent school. They strive to help students thrive and reach their academic potential. All students get dance and art classes too. Their school performances are always a treat. The watch dogs are a great program that helps get dads involved and increase male presence on campus creating a safer environment. This is a Apple school. All students are taught using the latest technology and advancements. The Accelerated Reader program and math programs offered for supplemental support are excellent and valuable learning tools. The teachers and staff care about the students. Campus was always such a warm welcoming environment. Extremely diverse environment where everyone feels welcome. Nixon is a excellent school. Nixon has everything a parent could want for their child. Senior: Im currently a senior attending Compton Early College, and overall i really loved my experience at my school. My first year was online due to COVID-19 but my school provided so much support through out the whole process. my school offers the dual enrollment program with our local community college so while completing my high school classes we are also able to take college courses and are able to obtain an AA degree by the time we graduate high school. At first i will say that it was hard to balance my regular classes, AP courses, and my college courses but with the help of my resources at school i learned to be able to manage everything.... Senior: Gahr Highschool is comparably more artistically cultured than most of the other highschools in ABCUSD. We have excellent artistic programs that readily teaches students the fundamentals of how creativity works, even up to the college level with AP courses; this is what I enjoyed the most in Gahr. People are connected vastly throughout the student body—every senior knows every senior, some freshmen even know their juniors—it's thanks to the events thoroughly planned by the student council that as a school, are able to enjoy a community as gladiators. On a different note, few administrator from the office or maybe the district can ever tell if a teacher is somehow acting "strange" towards their students, it's something that has happened in many schools(outside of ABCUSD), and it's entirely possible to keep a teacher employed regardless of suspicions. Senior: Haskell STEM Academy has been given a bad reputation over the years, and it definitely does not deserve it. When I first found out I would be attending Haskell, I was distraught. I bought into the rumors that have been inaccurately spread around my community– like the of presence drugs and all around badness– but after a few weeks at the school, I soon realized that all those rumors were false. Haskell is an incredibly safe school with a caring staff, incredible resources, and a diverse array of students. Also, new additions to the school, such as the STEM lab, has made Haskell a great school to attend if you are interested in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) pathway. In retrospect, I am so glad I attended Haskell and I would not have had it any other way.... Read 1 review

Senior: My overall time at Artesia High school has been a joyful roller coaster. From the best moments such as participating in great sport competitions, to receiving academic awards, enjoying the big rallies, fun dances, and not to forget the home Football games. These are just a few events that made my time at Artesia High School just so much fun and unforgettable. I wouldn't say there is any "worse parts" when it comes to going to any high-school, however I did feel skeptical on the safety of the school and the area. I would love to see change in the student council, as we call it ASB. I would want to see some change in the themes of dances and activities to better connect with students more.... Read 434 reviews

Alum: I really enjoyed my time here at Ellen. I've made many friends and I've also bonded with some of the staff here. The teachers here make sure you are in a safe environment and are willing to help with your personal problems that you might have. Since Ellen was a small school, teachers are able to better help students 1 on 1. Some of the classes are limited, but there are dual enrollment classes you can take which I liked since I could get college credit while still in school. I was also a member of the lacrosse team and I've made the best memories by joining. We were a pretty good team but still lacked in some ways. The food here is okay but there are also some good selections on some days. There wasn't a lot of diversity since it was mostly Hispanics but there were other races. I also know some students that got accepted to UCLA, USC, UC Berkeley, so for a small school, you still can get into good colleges. Don't know what else to say except I will never forget Ellen Ochoa.
