Alum: Very nice school to attend. The Arts Department is very talented and well funded as well! You are bound to grow here and find a place where you'll belong. The environment is very supportive and gives you the opportunity to make yourself known. The staff and custodians genuinely cares about your well being and provides many opportunities for you to express yourself- from group activities to reaching out to an adult by sending your concerns via CMHS app or in person. The curriculum can be definitely challenging and vigorous sometimes, but it is all worth it and leaves you feeling more prepared then you ever thought you would be. Freshman: Probably one of the best Louisiana schools in terms of academics, and any student willing to try will be prepared for high school and college. Alum: Herndon magnet is by far the best school! no one is left out , its a huge family! all the teachers care and are there to help you! I miss Herndon so much, Herndon isn't just a school its a home and everyone there is my family! I learned so much and now highschool is a breeze. Alum: There were so many things I loved about my school. The first thing I like about my school was they made me feel like family the first day I ever walked through those doors. Not everyone can can say they felt that way about their school. Another thing I liked about my school was the teachers actually cared and wanted to see the students succeed. Where i'm from teachers really don't care what you do and for them to actually show they cared about my future and my classmates future was a blessing. One last thing I like about my school were the organizations. At my school their were organizations for any and everything you wanted to do. Know one was left out or forgotten about. Senior: I started going to green oaks in the 7th grade. My middle school experience was very fun because it was a little more lenient . I can admit that green oaks is a school like no other although the public school system doesn’t contribute to students creativity much, green oaks expressed dance and acting . Green oaks is a predominantly black school , so we’re not acknowledged much about our intelligence. The truth is when people hear “ a predominantly black high school” they think violence , chaos , little to no intelligence and poor education. Those things are true except the little to no intelligence , I’ve met extremely smart people at green oaks . There are teachers at my school with deficient teaching methods. There are teachers at my school who shouldn’t be teaching the subjects they do . There are teachers at my school who are great at teaching .
