Junior: The course work is very rigorous, but manageable for most. The teachers vary with some being above and beyond helpful while others treat us like independent college students. Sometimes the expectations can be too high, which can be frustrating as a student. The building is basically falling apart and the district is also bad at making decisions for the school since it's not like the other high schools in the district. We often get screwed over when decisions are being made at the district level and administration doesn't always take the easiest route to accomplish things. Alum: It was a great school that prepares the student for the feature. I know personally because I attended Handley. The teachers are nice and they do their job. This school also exposes the children to the arts and languages which is a very great thing. They also prepare the students for sciences and have them doing hands- on activities in legitimate laboratories with excellent equipment. This school is also great because it is a school for the gifted so it is not just an ordinary school. Niche User: If I could relive my high school experience again, I would definitely pick the International Academy of Macomb. Some of my favourite experiences include the school German class trip to Germany, the multiple events within classes that define the IAM, and the events within clubs. The annual Winter Olympics always puts the entire school in a good mood, and incorporates a healthy amount of competition in the school. The teachers are always happy to come to their job every day, and a lot of teachers also build healthy friendship bonds with each other.
