Junior: Overall a great school, too bad it is closing/being merged. The atmosphere is very friendly and everybody is overall very welcoming. There is nerd culture but it isn't a big problem because of the lack of cliques and stuff. The food could be better but that goes for every high school really. The teachers are probably the best part about the school because they take the time to get to know each student and care for them and see them as more than a grade but as a person.

Junior: Because of its MYP program and full IB program that starts in junior year, the International School of Beaverton is excellent in providing a rigorous and comprehensive education which fully prepares students for college academics. Since it is a relatively small school, I really appreciate how the teacher and alumni are tight-knit so that students are able to receive detailed one-on-one feedback and help that may not be as easily accessible in larger schools.
I think that the school needs several improvements, however - especially the facility. Because there is so little parent involvement, fundraisers are rarely very effective and therefore our school does not have the resources to improve the facilities. There are definitely locations that need renovation or other improvements.

Senior: Vancouver School of Arts and Academics (VSAA) is recognized as having excellent programs in the arts, and I believe this is true. For students who are interested in literary arts, visual art, theatre, dance, moving image arts, and music, VSAA certainly has the capacity to fuel and inspire that passion. The teachers in the arts programs are highly trained and professional. Most students form close personal bonds with their arts teachers that last beyond high school. I feel like I have become a more versatile and informed artist because of my experiences at VSAA. Academically, VSAA has many excellent teachers as well, particularly in the humanities. However, VSAA does have limited options when it comes to AP classes. Hopefully the selection broadens in future years. The student culture at VSAA sometimes feels close-minded and lacking in diversity of opinions. Apart from that, the students tend to be kind, intelligent, and creative people.

Senior: During my time at Health and Science School, I've learned a great deal of medical knowledge by going down the medical track in high school. While I can't vouch for how good the engineering and technology side of the school is I can assure you that the medical program is extremely good. The teachers within the track are very supportive and very engaged in the subjects they are teaching. They also have a bunch of resources such as an autopsy table and multitudes of lab equipment.

Vancouver iTech Preparatory, a S.T.E.M focused high school, was a very friendly, creative, and competitive educational environment with project based education style and very diverse classes with lots of intelligent students came from all different cultural backgrounds.

Alum: I am a recent graduate, and I think Arts and Communication Magnet Academy has fallen short on several occasions. Select teachers and directors are frankly not very good at teaching, the school offers few advanced placement classes, some arts programs revived uneven amounts of funding, the administrative and office workers are frequently rude, and I'd say the school is not very good at preparing students for college. All of that being said, some arts programs are excellent, the performance venues are wonderful spaces, and the school culture itself is very strong and unique.

Alum: Benson was an excellent fit for me! It allows students with an individualistic personality to explore a myriad of careers and majors, an opportunity not offered at mainstream high schools. The teaching staff is one of a kind, you would be hard pressed to find a more invested and caring staff anywhere else in PPS. It was a difficult choice for me to go to a school other than my neighborhood school, but in hindsight it was the best choice I could have made.

Parent: MLC is a very nourishing environment. We have a Kindergartener there and I am blown away by the curriculum. Lots of experiential learning opportunities, art, and social justice focus which is exactly what we were looking for in a school. Social emotional growth is huge here. My child is so excited to go to school. He is only in Kindergarten but so far the community is wonderful and he is learning so much.

Senior: I love the diversity and community that comes with Jefferson. In our class we have meaningful conversations that involve everyone and everything it helps share the views of everyone and it builds a stronger community. I love the teachers because they actually enjoy teaching, and I can trust them. This makes for a better learning environment when I feel respected as a student and as a person. As a senior I am very ready for college I have so many resources and the teachers have helped me for years preparing me for life after college.

Niche User: This school was by far the best high school I could have attended. The classrooms were the perfect size(~10 students per class). The teachers always had personal time for all of their students. We didn't have to go to school on Monday but if you needed one on one time with one of your teachers, they were there for you. It had the high school vibe but in a smaller, more relaxed way. I would definitely chose this school again. I got the high school experience but in a calmer way. No extra unneeded stress.
