Junior: Lincoln College Preparatory Academy is an excellent school. The athletics here are truly the best, especially when it comes to our football and cross country/track and field teams. We are some of the best in the league (high school-wise). We also have interesting clubs for the students to participate in like the film club and art club. The academics here are much better than the rest of the ones in the Kansas city school district. The only problem I have with Lincoln is the people teaching, we've had our fair share of creepy teachers or teachers who just can't teach at all. Senior: I have overall had a very good experience here! After 5 years, the school has changed a lot, however I am more than happy to soon be an alumni. The food has always been a problem, however spending time with classmates more than makes up for it. The sociability within the school is great, as there is a very good balance of socializing and curriculum being implemented. There is always a push to take higher difficulty courses, which has been made easier with the different levels of difficulty being provided. Alum: I went to Foreign Language Academy in the 6th grade of 2006. I have attended this middle from the 6th grade to the 8th grade. My overall experience with my old middle school was wonderful. This was actually the first diverse school I have ever been. I am African American, as I seen different people and experience different culture was truly a mind blowing experience. Attending Foriegn Language Academy showed me that instead of classifying people by race(skin color, etc) we should be classified as a whole human race. The school provide services to their students to learn both language Spanish and France. The school was real heavy on having their students to be culturally immersed. The staff are great people. I have always felt safe when I was at Foreign Language Academy. They didn’t have many clubs, but I will say the clubs they had was great. Alum: I am a recent graduate from the 2019 school year, Paseo was a wonderful family to be a part of. Paseo is a part of the Kansas City, MO Public School system, with that being said there are a lot of flaws in the school system curriculum wise, but the Paseo Academy teachers do their best in working with what they have. Given that it is a performing arts school, academics do come first no matter what. There is always programs/performances occurring and in order to participate, your academics must be up to par no matter how important your role in the program is, if the requirements are not met then you have to give up your spot. I feel that that drove us as students to do better not only with academics but with behavior as well. When there is a good system put in place that is strict but not too strict to where students don't want to be a part of it, it helps the success of everyone. Parent: Holliday Montessori has been described as Kansas City's "hidden gem" for good reason. Competitive to get into, but if you are lucky enough to get in, your child is guaranteed to be a part of a loving, challenging, diverse and devoted community of teachers, parents, and students. Their national recognition speaks to the rigor and talent among some of the most qualified teachers I've ever seen at work. Holliday is on the up and up and nothing is slowing them down!... Junior: Honestly Southeastern isn't the greatest school based off of the student body, but the teachers you'll find at this school are pretty unique. I've had a couple bad experiences with a few teachers, but most of the teachers I've had have genuinely been good teachers and great people. Besides maybe one or two teachers, the classrooms aren't super strict and the teachers tend to be forgiving when it comes to late work or make-up work. I'd definitely recommend going to Southeastern, but I'd also like to stress that the people that go to Southeastern have known each other since they were in diapers, so it will be tough to get to know people at first.
