Middle School Student: Ive attended since fourth grade, and Id like to begin discussing the application process. Its difficult to get into this school unless you have a sibling who has attended or is presently attending at Challenge. Obtaining a recommendation letter from your current school's teacher is also an easier option to gain admission to the school. When it comes to clubs, the school is fiercely competitive, particularly in lego robotics, TSA(Technology Student Association), Chess, and Math Club. The school places a lot of emphasis on writing and math. However, I wish the school would have its own sports team because I know a lot of athletes that go to different places to participate in sports. This school welcomes diversity, and kids who join clubs like WEB, PACK players, and another one that I cant recall right now get to lead assemblies that discuss topics that children should be aware of(eg: bullying). Senior: I moved to Niwot High School my senior year and with limitations from the pandemic, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Niwot is a very competitive school that offers various classes (IB, AP, HONORS, and GenEd) that prepare you for the university route or career path. The teachers and staff are all nice, and they prioritize the success and learning of the students. The high school carries great energy through its athletics and academics. There are many opportunities to get involved in different clubs. I wouldn't consider myself as being the most artistic person but I was exposed to many art classes. Parent: This school has been an answer to our prayers. Our eldest child’s unique emotional-social needs are being met and coached. Academically, both our children receive quality instruction; these teachers care and are responsive to parent input and concern. It has been a rough year in terms of school funding and offering teachers competitive salaries, yet the admin and teachers are diligently pressing on. We are so grateful for that. Alum: The Denver Center for International Studies served me very well over the course of my five years as a student there. I participated in both the middle and high school programs and have been adequately prepared for my life outside of high school. The supplementary classes were deeply enriching and fostered critical thinking and writing skills. The school culture of DCIS is a tight-knit community with teachers that care about students as young adults, not just students. Student voice and leadership is also a key part of the DCIS paradigm, which I was involved in throughout my time at the school. While the school suffers from a lack of funding, which impacts some opportunities and facilities, I am extremely grateful for the time I spent at DCIS. Works Here: I was able to explore all the career classes the school offered that actually helped me on the path of my future career, Education. I took a bunch of the career classes that the school offered and I never found anything that I looked forward to, but all classes offer their own experiences, just none that caught my attention at least, until I took the Early Education career class. Anyways, besides the career classes, I had the regular high school classes and I was able to take college classes through the Community College of Denver which helped me be on track for my actual college classes when i graduated.... Niche User: My litte brother goes here, I have overall seen good things. His academics have improve, as he is the top 94% of his district in math, and reading level is two grades above. He is a smart kid, and a part of that is because of STEM. Some places where they can improve I would say are like facilities. Including the bathrooms, and the food given. Alum: Hidden Lake High School was an amazing high school for my situation. I moved to Hidden Lake from a charter school and I was behind in my credits. I completed the Westminster Virtual Academy through Hidden Lake three months before my graduation date! The virtual program was very resourceful as were the educators. They were always available if any of the students needed help. They were awesome at tutoring the students and helped guide them to whatever goals they wanted to achieve. The hours of operations also worked wonderfully for me! I was in school part time and worked full time during my high school career. I did their afternoon or night classes which worked with my work schedule beautifully. Overall, my experience with this high school was very positive. Parent: My son has attended meadow for pre-k, kindergarten and first grade. The teachers and staff are wonderful and truly care about the students. They have a great after school enrichment program too. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is there is no option for after school care every day of the week, even if your child doesn't get into the enrichment programs. Other than that, this school is excellent! The staff try so hard to get parents involved in their child's education. It's sad, many parents don't seem to care.... Read 1 review
