Senior: In Meira Academy, you alone make up 5.56% of the entire student body. The school fosters young individuals each still trying to develop their unique life paths while simultaneously gathering these students from all backgrounds to create a close-knit family. It's a wonder that such a small school of eighteen Orthodox Jewish young women can even exist. Yet, Meira Academy not only stays afloat, but does so with sophistication and warmth, both in academia and student environment. Parent: OHDS is a truly wonderful school. I had read the glowing reviews and spoken to some current and former parents who all had amazing things to say, but how great can a school be, really? Well, my daugther just completed kindergarden and I can definitely say that yes, it really is everything. The education is second to none, seamlessly incorporating Hebrew and Judaic studies into every day learning, and it's done with so much joy - my daughter is constantly singing Hebrew songs and telling me what she has been learning about. We have made great friends at the school from various backgrounds - there are truly orthodox parents, entirely secular families that just want their kids to have a strong education, and everyone (including us) in between. We plan on sending our younger kids here too, and will continue through 8th grade. Parent: I am a parent at Yavneh. I know this school has made them better people. They’re proud to be themselves, proud to help friends, proud to help the world. Teachers and staff really care and it really is a family. As parents, we joyfully join the Monday morning T’fillah, Thursday morning Torah service, and Friday Shabbat. It’s been special watching my kids grow up in this special place and I feel so lucky to know they have so many opportunities. From music to art to specialty electives, every one of my kids has had a phenomenal experience. Their growth as mathematicians, scientists, readers, engineers, artists, and musicians has been truly extraordinary. Every student presents to the school, every student has opportunities to be celebrated. From deeply meaningful milestones to field trips to journeys, this school creates an experience where we continue to have alumni return because that feeling is in their hearts forever. Parent: Our kids are both in the lower school (K-4) and here is what we have observed in their four years there: Brandeis academics are miles above other private schools. Subjects are significantly more challenging than for our friends at single-sex schools on the north side of town. Brandeis differentiates students so that everyone is learning at their own pace. Math classes across different grades take place at the same time so that students can move up to other grades as needed. Kids are divided into groups for reading. And the groups are fluid - they change to fit the student's needs. The community is so caring and involved and people really look out for each other. Brandeis is also truly focused on raising good human beings. So many of lessons, whether in Jewish Studies or even the Create and Build studios focus on whether a planned project is ethical and what it's impact will be. Parent: As a parent of a Wornick JDS grad I'd like to highly recommend the school! Academically, Our daughter was challenged, had what we consider to be an appropriate amount of homework. They monitored her progress on different subjects, moved her to a more or less fast/challenging group based on performance. They make kindness, forgiveness, respect for self and others, giving to the community & being a good person core to daily life&behaviors. Wornick encourages leadership in their students. Example: the rotating responsibility of class ambassador. This student welcomes visitors, answers the phone, speaks on behalf of the class. I'm so grateful for our decision to send our daughter to wornick. She enjoyed her time, made life long friends, got great education, has a curiosity & desire to learn & think critically, is focused on being a good person & looking out for others.
